Open Adobe PDF in client application
Office 365 / SharePoint online needs to support opening PDF documents in SharePoint directly to client application (Adobe Acrobat Pro/DC).
As of this request, technical support has stated the only way to open PDF files in Acrobat is to download/save them.
SharePoint On Premise has supported this feature for some time.
Adobe PDF files are as common and Microsoft Office Suite documents and must be editable directly to/from SharePoint Online without the need to down/save edit, and upload which adds user overhead and lowers productivity.

Make rename in Teams reflect name changes in Sharepoint?
When I rename a folder in the Teams app, the underlying folder is not renamed in sharepoint. This is most confusing.

Quick update on this suggestion. We are still working on this with MS Teams. We don’t have an ETA to share still.

Remove the list view threshold (5000 by default)
This limit has always been a bit laughable, and is even more so as we develop more client side applications. In SharePoint 2007 we didn't have this limit and were allowed to make our own mistakes. Now that hardware is so much more powerful, we need this limit removed so that we can build enterprise-class applications.

We are continuing to make our large list experiences better, please keep the feedback coming.
Spring 2018 update:
- We now support being able to manually add indexes to lists of any size (increased from lists up to 20,000 items previously).
- Starting with the February release of the Office 365 Excel client, you will be able to export your full list instead of getting cut off part of the way through. What we are working on now:
- Predictive indexing will start to work for lists larger than 20,000 items so your views will automatically cause the right indexes to be added to your lists. In our backlog:
- Being able to index/sort/filter by lookup column types (like person, lookup or managed metadata columns) without being throttled.
- Making sure that our REST APIs support querying in ways that will guarantee that the call will not be throttled. For…

Please let me drag Outlook attachments into SharePoint
Something I find myself wanting to do pretty frequently is storing an email attachment somewhere into SharePoint or OneDrive for Business. I want to simply drag the attachment from Outlook directly into SharePoint or OneDrive in the browser. Alas, I cannot. I am forced to save the attachment somewhere (my Desktop, most likely) then either drag+dropping it into SharePoint/OneDrive or using the upload function in SharePoint/OneDrive to get it uploaded.
It should be easier than that. Microsoft, please consider adding this functionality to get even more user-friendly integration between your suite of products.

We are hard at work on this capability now. We’ll release it early next year.

Provide an option to disable the "Share" button.
The Share button breaks inheritance on an item, and without warning to the user. With the default Permission Level of "Edit" in Team Sites, you can quickly have 100's or 1000's of items with unique permissions. Going forward, any permissions granted at the library or site level can create a situation where new users will see all of the content in a library, except for those with unique permissions.
I would like to be able to disable (hide) the Share buttons at various tiers such as library, site, site collection or web application/tenant.

Customize SharePoint Email Alert Templates
Allow the site collection admins to customize the template for the standard SharePoint alerts. The current email alerts are confusing, provide too much information to the user and are out-of-date style-wise.
Allow the admins to add common fields, i.e. "Title", "Created By", and include an image and hyperlinks. Also allow adding a CSS style sheet.

Bulk check-in/check-out
I need to be able to check-in or check-out multiple files. I'm not able to do this currently, when selecting multiple documents.

Ability to set 'Tile' or 'List' as a default view
Please allow libraries to be show in List view by default.
I don't mind tile view, but when I got to all the trouble of setting up columns and mandatory fields and it displays tiles by default for each new user, all the power of the document library metadata is hidden.
This happened for me when the library contained only PDFs

More than 2 levels of "Group By"
There is a strong need to Group By more than two levels of column data. Example, we use SP to track mosquitos for vector control. I want to Group by Week, Trap Site, Trap Type, Species, Condition, etc... The ability to drill down and see totals for each condition or "Group By" would be fantastic. This leads to the next suggestion, Add Calculated columns to Group By Totals.

Thanks for your suggestion. We’re evaluating technical options for this feature. No guarantees or timelines just yet – but this is something we think would be very useful.

Drag and drop from SharePoint to desktop
In the past, you were able to not only drag and drop files from your desktop to SharePoint, you could also drag and top files visvera from your SharePoint to your desktop. Unfortunately, this feature does not work any longer and was never intented to work based on the statement of the support specialist (Office365 support case: SRX616012694500709ID). I do not see a security issue here, because it only worked when the site was part of the trusted sites/intranet in the IE options. eRoom had this feature with a plug-in already back in 2002 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ERoom). It would be…

Add documentlibrary setting for opening in view or edit mode
Previously the default behavour was to open in Read mode, and then actively change to Edit mode - with the latest updates the default is to open in Edit-mode.
This causes Word Online to save the second the user opens the document, and thereby rendering the "Edited by" and "Last edited"-fields completly useless, as it in effect just shows who opened the document last.It also causes users to make a lot of accidental changes to documents as well.
Since users are complaning about both the default behaviours, why not add a setting that let's the admins control how files…

Allow a site owner to kick a user out of a file opened in Excel Online
If you have multiple people co-authoring in Excel Online, there are times when you need to open the file in Excel - typically for advanced formatting, etc. If someone has accidentally left the file open in their browser, there is no way to force them out and keeps the file locked. Although not always intentional, it can create a major headache by not being able to simply kick/close out that particular user from editing.

Requests for correction on behavior to open in edit mode of SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business due to specification changes on MC 1
When opening Word, Excel, PowerShell files of SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business in Office Online with MC 131670 published in Message Center, it opened directly in edit mode.
As usual, please restore it so that it can be opened in viewing mode by default.
Or, add setting items so that you can select edit mode or viewing mode as the default value.256 votes -
Ability to save a file directly into a library and choose the metadata
There are some ways but they are limited. They don’t work in some situations or from any application. The saving experience to a shared drive is still so much more consistent!
- Use a favorite/add network location/map network drive
- In Office, we can choose where to save, pin in each application
- Save from an email: a message or attachment by saving on the desktop
It would be amazing to be able to:
1. Mark all sites (or libraries) where we would want to save (shortcuts)
2. Click on save in any application and be able to choose one…250 votes -

Custom restrictions of file types that user can upload to a document library.
SharePoint Online. We really need to set some restrictions of file types that user can upload to a document library.
For example, to deny upload file with extension .bmp and .tiff.216 votestell us more ·AdminSharePoint UserVoice Admin (SharePoint UserVoice Admin, Microsoft SharePoint) responded

New Experience Issues
In the new experience, our users still want: 1) to check-in multiple files; 2) open .msg and .pdf files in their client application without having to download it; and 3) in the viewer while looking at a pdf file with an electronic signature, the signature disappears; we'd like to see the signature please.

Bring back SharePoint Online Image Metadata Extraction
Back in September, we have used below columns to extract picture/image metadata w.r.t location in SharePoint Online:
wicSystemGPSLatitude
wicSystemGPSLongitudeIt worked brilliantly. But unfortunately the functionality doesn't seem to work anymore.
Other metadata such as date taken has also been removed. This is causing extreme headache for customers who relied on this data.
PLEASE BRING THIS BACK!!!

Open ".xdw" file in browser without downloading it
*English follows Japanese
■Title(件名):
ブラウザーで表示できない形式のファイルについてOpen ".xdw" file in browser without downloading it
".xdw" 形式のファイルなどをドキュメント ライブラリに保存した際、ブラウザーから開く際にはダウンロードされてから開く動作となる。関連するアプリケーションと関連付けを行う機能等により、".xdw" 形式のファイルなどを直接ブラウザーで表示が可能とする機能の実装を希望。
When we try to open ".xdw" format files stored in document library, we first have to download it to open up. What I would like to happen is for the file to simply be displayed in the browser without downloading it.
Thank you for your consideration.
