  1. SharePoint Calendar views adjust for local time zone

SharePoint calendars will show the time zone associated with the SharePoint site. Companies with offices across time zones have to translate that and people will often miss a scheduled meeting unless they used Outlook to show current time zone of the calendar item. Why can the calendar check the local computer time and adjust the calendar to display in the proper time zone?

This should be an option since not every company will want this functionality, but from a UX side, this would help with schedules.

  3. Different type of view in SharePoint document library (Root & Sub Folder) does not work anymore with "modern experience"

Different type of view in SharePoint document library (Root & Sub Folder) does not work anymore with "modern experience"

Enable content type management and creating different default views for Root and subfolders does work and is displayed/switched correctly in classic experience but not in modern!

  4. File Lock Override

Site/folder/file owners should be able to unlock locked files (waiting an hour for SharePoint to realise I closed that document it opened for me in Word Online is a real pain).

  5. Save email attachments to SharePoint Document Library

I'm sure this is the biggest gap for majority of corporate users. Saving email attachments to a document library. There is no direct option within Outlook 2016 or Outlook on the Web to save an email attachment to a SharePoint Document Library. an option exists for OneDrive a Groups but not SharePoint.

Our users are going through the painful process of either saving to their desktop then uploading to their SharePoint document libraries or save to OneDrive and perform a copy to a team site.

Yes you can Sync document libraries, but some users have access to many. You simply…

  6. Add Favorite function

It seems like the new interface doesn't let you Favorite a document. Delve is the only way I can favorite it at this point. Is this by design?

  7. Ability to use <frame>, <iframe>, <object>, <embed> on non .sharepoint.com websites to embed content from .sharepoint.com

Currently SharePoint returns https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Headers/X-Frame-Options header when trying to embed (with <frame>, <iframe>, <object>, <embed>) documents from external websites. The header is set to "sameorigin" that simply means only pages hosted on .sharepoint.com domain can do that.

    So let's see below example:
    1. Company XYZ has an internal domain: xyz.com. Company is using SharePoint and stores documents e.g.: pdf's there.
    2. Company XYZ has an internal technical portal: portal.xzy.com and want's to s embed documents from SharePoint.
    3. Because of X-Frame-Options returned along for any pdf/doc/xls etc document #2 is impossible as web browsers will not allow to do this kind…

  8. View in File Explorer for Edge

The "View in File Explorer" library menu item found only in Internet Explorer was very useful. However, consistent with Microsoft guidance, I've lately been using Edge for most of my work. Is there any chance that the same item could be allowed in Edge? Thanks.

  9. Different view when inside a folder

When using the new library experience, my customers are facing this issue with views per folder.
The setup is mostly like; Using a document library with several folders for security reasons. The 'All Items' view is used to display the folders at the library root level. When the customer opens a folder, an other view should be shown at that time.
In the classic experience this configuration can be made by configuring an additional view which is shown in folders of content type 'Folder'.

Using the modern library, this doesn't work anymore unless switching to the classic experience.

  10. Show document library and list descriptions in Modern UI

When creating a list or document library one of the primary fields to enter is the description. In classic UI this used to be shown above the view when users navigated to the library. The only place I can see the description being displayed under Modern UI is in the library settings. The description is a critical piece of information in assisting users with knowing the purpose and intended usage of the library/list. Can we please have it back or some other way of providing similar custom usage or information to the user on the primary UI into a list…

  11. Shorten Default "Files" URL from "Shared%20Documents" to "Docs"

This suggestion affects SharePoint Document Libraries and Microsoft Teams...

The URL for the default "Documents" document library in SharePoint is "Shared Documents", which in a URL is actually "Shared%20Documents" as spaces cannot exist in URLs and must be handled with the %20 character substitution.

This means that instead of being able to send a nice clean human readable URL to a file like:
    https://mycompany.sharepoint.com/sites/Marketing/Docs/Collateral/design.docx

    We end up with:
    https://mycompany.sharepoint.com/sites/Marketing/Shared%20Documents/Collateral/design.docx

There are two (2) issues here:
    1. Confusing "%20"
    2. Unnecessary added length "%20Shared" can all be eliminated

    This is confusing for users.

I would even go so far as to…

  12. Enable selecting the Client App or online application when opening URL link of Document Library.

Enable selecting the Client App or online application when opening URL link of Document Library.

Currently, I am aware of the behavior that it is automatically opened by the browsers regardless the setting of the Library when acquiring the URL format link from the existed files on SharePoint Online.

    For example, the path "https: // <tenant name> .sharepoint.com / sites / <site name> / <document library name> / <file name>. <Extension>? d = <parameter value>" requires the…

  14. Bring back ability to edit HTML files in Modern File Text Editor

I LOVE the new Text Editor available on Modern Document Libraries to edit files directly in the browser. I use this feature ALL THE TIME. However it appears a new "feature" in document libraries is to preview HTML files and you have removed the ability to edit these files in the Modern Text Editor... BOO! I say.. BOO! Bring back the ability to edit HTML files in the Modern Text Editor.

  15. Column / Row Level Security

Example: One list has a column with Security Clearance. Security Clearance has three options, Classified, Secret, Top Secret.
Users that have Classified can only see items which are designed Classified, User with Secret can see Classified and Secret items while Top Secret can see all three. Has many more uses other than this simple example.

  17. read EXIF during import to picture library

When importing Jpeg pictures to a picture library, the system should automatically parse the EXIF header and publish the data to existing columns. It seems that the on-premise SharePoint was able to do so (using special column naming like e.g. "wicSystemGPS_Date", but this seems to be gone for SharePoint online.

  18. Provide options to manage 'Shared with us' Document Library view and link

A new 'Shared with us' link has suddenly appeared in the Quick launch of all our SharePoint team sites when selecting 'Documents'. This is causing confusion among our users and many have asked how it can be hidden or how they can remove no longer relevant documents from the list.

Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to move it, hide it or make it a sub link of Documents (which would be logical) or to remove individual files from the list (unlike in the 'Shared with me' view in OneDrive).

Can you please make these improvement ASAP. It is not…

  19. Default notification for lists and library's hitting the 5000 items limit

At the moment there is no option to send a notification to an Office 365 Admin when a list or library is reaching the limit of 5000 items, it would be good if an out of the box option could be implemented to send this notification. e.g., a check-box option with an email field and the number of items to alert when reached, this would be great if it could be implemented across all site collections, so an Admin could set this up once and not worry about time consuming tasks of having to set up alerts or workflows to…
