Add customization possibility to the new SharePoint Home page
Based on the new feature being now rolled out at large: https://blogs.office.com/2016/05/04/sharepoint-the-mobile-and-intelligent-intranet/
The new SharePoint Home page (landing page) is cool and we really appreciate the new look and feel.
The only issue is that we can not customize that Home page and place the different items based on our priority!
Based on what we have now:Links
Followed Sites
Recents
SuggestedIt would be very interesting if we could place the LINKS on the right followed by the Followed sites!
Then we would have the Recents and Suggested sites on the left menu.
Basically being able to move parts…

Left menu/submenu expand and/or collapse default behavior setting
In modern view sites, the current left menu/submenu default behavior for submenu items is set to collapsed (this was changed from expanded about a year ago). There should be a way to select the default left menu/submenu expansion and contraction behavior either at the menu level, or at the very least at the site level. The current behavior of collapsed hides much of the functional items available on the site, that is, unless users have expanded the left menu enough to where they have committed the menu structure to memory - a tiresome exercise.

Integrate a full breadcrumb in the Suite bar to facilitate navigation in deep collections
In the top left (in the suite bar), integrate a breadcrumb (like in SharePoint 2010 with the hierarchical folder?) in order to facilitate the navigation in site collections.
Users are sometime lost when they are browsing a document library and when the ribbon is displayed in the header, they have difficulties to find that they must click the "BROWSE" tab to go back to the navigation.140 votes -
Page Level Breadcrumb
Please enable a breadcrumb for navigating pages on SharePoint. Even if its just for Modern Pages... or Communication Sites.
Scenario:
We have our intranet on our main site collection (consisting of 6 sub-sites exc. the root site) and one of the biggest problems I come across from end users is that they dont know where they are. They clicked a link from the homepage or from a news article, its taken them to the page they wanted to go to... but they have no idea where that is.
The problem this causes is the user cannot find a way…121 votes -

Bring back tree interface for managed metadata navigation and filtering in "modern" new document library experience.
In the classic document library experience, you can have a tree interface for navigating metadata tags, filtering the items shown in the library, as described here: https://tinyurl.com/lvltljh
Currently, tree navigation is only available in the classic experience, not new, as explained here: https://tinyurl.com/m6knsj9
In my company, the tree navigation of metadata tags has been crucial for user adoption, weaning them off of the nested folder structure they were used to in file shares, by having an equivalent nested set of metadata tags (not folders).
I am hopeful this functionality can be added to the new document library experience so that…

Enable nested menu items in left-hand (Current) navigation
Why not be able to nest links in the Current navigation? Making a link a sub-link of another (e.g., via ">> Demote" and "<< Promote" buttons) would enable the nesting and create a pop-out menu when hovering over the left navigation item. This could work similarly to putting links inside a folder in the Global Nav, which creates a dropdown menu. If nothing is nested, the menu acts the same way as it does currently.

Modern Team Sites - Global (Managed) Navigation with security trimming
To connect Modern Team Sites it would be very useful to have a global navigation with security trimming.

Hide Site Contents Access Links
Allow Site admin's to control whether or not the "Site Contents" is displayed in the settings gear or in the navigation side bar.
We do not want everyone to have access to the site contents page.

Make Sharepoint User Friendly
It would be nice if the look and feel of share point was more windows based and user friendly. Its very archaic and challenging to navigate. A search engine inside of the program to pull information would be helpful. I have a lot of sales reps and customer service people who have rudimentary computer skills who continually are unable to use functionally and as a result I am unable to communicate information effectively.

Top Nav support on Modern Team Sites
Our organization would love to see the top nav from the communication site template allowed to be used in Team sites, with both Mega Menu and Cascading options. With the team site as the default for a Microsoft Team, we are consistently being asked for a top nav option when the group tries to use the SPO pages of their team site. It would be great if both left and top nav could be supported at the same time for a team site.

Improve Performance of Structured Navigation in SharePoint Online
One of our clients recently notified us that its SharePoint Online site was extremely slow. This was odd considering that none of our other customers were experiencing the same behavior. After some investigation, research, and a ticket with Microsoft, we learned that SharePoint Online's structured navigation feature was the gremlin in the engine. Related to this, here are some important articles to read.

This "Recent"-navigation node - disaperance is on several customers wishlist for their own products based/developed on the SharePoint platform.

Search folder options
Bring back folder options for search.
Previously, in search, you could go directly to a folder that had the file you were looking for.
Now, you can only open the file in the screen.

Navigation from document libraries
From the new document library, I'm unable to get back to our main homepage of the SharePoint site. We lost all of the branding applied to our site. It would be great to be able to navigate back to the homepage, and to see the breadcrumb of which site we are on.

Enable "View in File Explorer" in Edge
Please allow "View in File Explorer" in Edge (and other browsers would be nice).
Windows is CONSTANTLY prompting to switch from IE to Edge, despite several functions only being available in IE.
The O365 team even went so far as to make IE super easy to login to the portal via the account on which I am already logged into on windows, all the while IE added a "New Tab in Edge" option. Seems like a huge disconnect between Sharepoint and Windows/every other MS team to only allow these features in IE when every other MS team is moving away…35 votes -
Filter pane managed metadata
It would be really nice if the new filter pane metadata navigation would:
-show only the used values like the columns filters instead of showing the whole tree.
-Give the option of typing values with autocomplete (like it used to work in keyfilters)30 votes -
Add list of all sites that I can access
Please add a list of all sites that I have access to. Right now it tries to be smart and only show sites that I follow, frequent and suggested sites. But I'd like to have just a simple list of ALL sites. Thanks!
