  1. Allow a site collection's relationship to a Hub to be reflected in URL

I know this will seem like I want to return to the old sub-sites hierarchical model, but we do still have users who pay attention to their browser address bar when they are trying to understand how a page fits into the overall structure of an intranet or portal.
While Hub site navigation (sort of) allows us to visually reflect the relationship of a site to its 'parent' hub, there's nothing in site collection addresses that provide this visual cue.

I say 'sort of', because when you are on a site that is related to a hub, there is no…

  3. Need provision to choose a custom approval flow for association with Hub site

Need provision to choose a custom approval flow for association with Hub site using Power Automate and replace the default OOB approval flow for Hub Site association.
Currently Hub site settings does not provide option to choose Flow. Whenever we enable the approval feature for Hub site, a new flow gets created with predefined template.

  4. Ability to hide the Hub Site navigation

Add the ability to hide the hub site navigation via some setting or powershell.

The hub site navigation is a list of static links with no security trimming and no way to target an audience. With the introduction of SharePoint SPFx extensions we have the ability to create a header on top of the page. The most common usecase in this scenario is to create a customized menu. However if hub sites are used and you need a customized menu you will have two menu's at the top.

Here are a few business scenario's for a customized menu

We don’t intend to support hiding hub navigation per site, however there are a few key solutions you can use (now and soon):

    Audience targeting in navigation https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/target-navigation-news-and-files-to-specific-audiences-33d84cb6-14ed-4e53-a426-74c38ea32293

We’re working on delivering global navigation, you can read more about it in this blog post: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-sharepoint-blog/innovations-for-workplace-communications-and-employee-engagement/ba-p/1696149

  5. Nested Hub Sites

Don't think this has been suggested yet, but Hub sites should definitely allow nesting!! The flat/flexible organization is good, and allowing some hierarchy/rollup with hubs is better, but would be best if a hub could be a sub of another hub (a branch, sub of region, sub of district) and have rollup through each level of nested hubs. Allows best of both worlds - flexibility of flat and dynamic association, with advantages of multi-layer hubs!

  6. Site collections inherit security settings from hub site

Need an option to inherit security settings from the hub site for all site collections in the hub.

  7. Provide an option to set the default Search Scope to the entire hub in associated sites

We have content in our hub site (SharedDocuments folder) that users expect to find in associated sites. The hub is good at pulling content from associated sites but it doesn't seem that the associated sites pull in search results from the hub. It would be nice if we could set the default scope in the associated site to be the hub (or all sites). Right now they have to search, get no results, then click on the link search all sites instead or use the breadcrumb to get the desired results.

  8. Hub site names must be unique

Enforce unique names for Hubs. Under Hub Site Settings, site admins can rename the Hubs and use an existing name. This is problematic. Other sites that want to associate themselves with the Hub won't know which Hub to pick if they see more than one on the dropdown. It also presents other issues on reporting, etc.

  9. Hub Site Content Rollup Filtering

Add filtering to News and Events rolled up to the Hub Site e.g. allow filtering by a metadata column to selected items are shown rather than all. This would allow news to show in a connected site but only appear on the Hub based on the filter criteria.

  10. Modern Search with Hub sites

I'm currently working with a Global fortune 500 organization on migrating from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint Online. They are fully embracing the modern experiences, however we're finding certain aspects of the new experiences are confusing to end users, and a significant amount of change management is required to help them understand how it's functioning.

SUGGESTION: The modern search experience's default text in the box is "Search Across Sites". What this is doing is actually searching across the sites configured in the current hub. What would be FAR more intuitive for end users is if the default text leveraged the name…

  11. Provide ability to move hub navigation below site navigation

In some scenarios, we don't need the site navigation, only the hub navigation when our navigation for the hub is global and it would be preferable to have that row below the site navigation so it is closer to the content the user is engaging with..

  12. Global navigation: option to add links

Allow us to add at least one more link to the global navigation. Currently there is the wafer menu, main hub link and a link to the app the user is on. We would really appreciate the ability to also add a link to our organization's main external website, to serve as the access point to our staff using the intranet.

  13. Hub Site - Group Calendar - "All Sites in hub"

Please can we add the same level of customisation as is present in the News and Events web apps to other web apps?

Specfically, I would like to be able to consolidate the associated-sites calendars into one that can be seen and subscribed to from the Hub site.

  15. Navigation and new tab

We should have the possibility to choose easily if an link in the lefthand menu or the hub's menu should open in a new tab or not. There 's no option about this nor in the modern settings neither in the hub settings.

  17. Security-trim hub site association dropdown list

Currently if a site owner opens the Site Information flyout menu and opens the dropdown of Hub Sites available for association the user will see all Hub Sites in the tenant, even those the user has no permissions to view. This might reveal Hub Sites with confidential information (like R&D project names) the user otherwise would have never been able to see.

Thus, the dropdown list showing the Hub Sites should only the Hub Sites the current user has (at least) "view" permissions on.

  18. Share lists across site collections

When will we be able to share lists across modern sites in SharePoint? This is the number one driver for creating subsites.

The unstructured google search nature of managed metadata doesn’t cut it in the business world. Business information is highly structured, based on lists; contracts, purchase orders, work packages, invoices, etc. Filtering and search refiners get results, not hit and miss vague searches based on tags.

You don’t want us to use classic subsites? Fine. Then make the reason for using subsites work in modern.

  19. UX and PowerShell cmdlet that lists all sites connected to a Hub site

We need a cmdlet that lists all the sites that are linked to a Hub Site. Maybe call it Get-SPOHubSiteLinkedSites and it would take as a parameter the URL of the Hub Site.
