We love the new hub site feature, and the roll ups for sites and highlighted content. What we really need is a roll up web part for events, so that all event calendars accross the hub can show on one webpart.
Uses for this would be to show all events, company wide, happening this week.16 votes
In Sharepoint Communication Sites -
- Allow the option to schedule posts for the News Section.
- Allow the option to change the published date for posts in the News Section (e.g. if you need to back-date something).
- Allow the option to change the publishing user on News posts (e.g if you're publishing something on behalf of a team member, but want their name displayed, not yours)14 votesworking on it · AdminSharePoint UserVoice Admin (SharePoint UserVoice Admin, Microsoft SharePoint) responded
We’re working on a scheduling feature now for pages and news posts.
You can now set the author of a news post (or page) to another team member with our enhancements to title area on pages that rolled out in December 2018.
Why is this not the case?8 votes
Please remove the restriction for 50 hub sites per tenant (or at least increase it to 500 sites) as there could be many scenarios where one would need more than 50 hub sites particularly the large / multinational enterprise/organisations. For example, Project Management Office (PMO) used to create subsites for a large projects to manage different streams within a single project and would now create Office 365 Groups and I can see PMO could easily use 10 - 20 hub sites.85 votesworking on it · AdminSharePoint UserVoice Admin (SharePoint UserVoice Admin, Microsoft SharePoint) responded
In August we increased the limit from 50 to 100. We’re working on increasing it further.
Hi! It would be great if you could chose to have the hero web part in lesser height.113 votes
There is too little control of a Modern Page. You can't control text size and coloring, you have limited format control, and most of all you can't *edit source*. I used this to drop in things like Image Maps or other HTML that there was no way to add in.179 votesworking on it · AdminSharePoint UserVoice Admin (SharePoint UserVoice Admin, Microsoft SharePoint) responded
We have added options to the rich text editor to change the color and size of text on the page already.
We are working right now to enable on-page anchors.
We won’t be adding a way to edit page source, nor embed arbitrary HTML or tags like in the previous content or script editor web parts.
Categorize and filter news articles on new publishing site
Ability to select category (or multiple) for a news article when you create it. Plus the ability to filter the news widget by category.
Exactly like you can for events. Plus the ability to select multiple categories if you choose.161 votes
I see these pages have a "Promoted State" and "FirstPublishedDate" that are used to determine if a page should be shown as News, but these properties cannot be changed. I want to be able to take an existing site page, and publish it as News.
Alternatively, you could let me publish news to a library separate from the site pages so I'm not cluttering my wiki page library.44 votes
I'd like to be able to resize an image directly from the modern pages image webpart. This is really annoying that the pages are so easy to create but that you can't control the image size on the page.431 votes
Add News Article Metadata
When adding a news article (site page) on Communication Sites, through the new interface, it would be great to be able to populate additional metadata for the page.
This could be along the lines of tagging pages with keywords for searching through articles or adding custom metadata.196 votes
For organisations that would like to use Communication site as their intranet it would be great if you could provision the root site as a Communication site, rather than a team site with a redirect to the communication site.
There is a workaround as mentioned here but i'd prefer a Microsoft supported method https://hangconsult.com/2017/06/29/change-sharepoint-online-root-site-collection-to-use-the-new-communication-site-template/955 votes
This was just demoed at Ignite 2018 session BRK2136. Read more about it : https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-SharePoint-Blog/Build-your-modern-intranet-with-SharePoint-in-Office-365-Ignite/ba-p/255453
It would be great to be able to target content by Audience (using global audiences and SharePoint groups) on the modern web parts just like we were able on the classic pages. Thanks669 votes
We’re working on this! The first web part we’re enabling it on is the News web part, followed by the highlighted content and events web parts. We’d love to hear about other audience targeting scenarios you’d like us to enable. Thanks!
When I rename a folder in the Teams app, the underlying folder is not renamed in sharepoint. This is most confusing.1,852 votes
Thanks for flagging this one — we are working jointly with MS Teams on a solution for keeping consistency when you rename a channel in Teams. Don’t have an ETA to share yet.
Filter options now only include title or content search, and managed properties.
Adding managed metadata will improve this powerful webpart!82 votes
Please allow news or post to be published to Microsoft Teams.17 votes
It would be great to have the option to receive notifications on the new Sharepoint "News from sites" page so we’d be able to manage notifications on a per site basis through the individual sharepoint sites.34 votes
We are using the SharePoint Online Modern News feature. We love it. I've got the SharePoint Online Android app installed on my smartphone. I follow a few sites. I would like that the app sends me a push notification message on my phone for all new news articles that exist on sites that I follow. Would be so nice!!! Thanks guys!!15 votes
We would love the ability to reorder the articles/pages in the modern News web parts or have the ability to surface featured articles to the top.67 votes
We are rolling out the ability to organize news posts and essentially pin items in the order you want to display in the news web part. You can drag and drop to add and rearrange posts. Depending on the news web part layout option you use, the number of “pinned” posts will vary and you can control the number as well.
This will be rolling out to the service shortly.

Allow page authors to design page templates right in the Page Edit UI. Page edit would allow them to remove the Title Banner, Logo, left navigation, Edit link, New Link, Share Link, Search box and save the template for reuse.
Page Templates would support web parts and new developed custom JS controls for things like custom navigation controls.197 votes
We are working on a solution to save a modern page as a page template. This list of available templates will be shown to users when they click New > Page or New > News. It will include some out of the box templates from Microsoft and any templates saved to the site.
This does not affect the Site header, navigation, search box, command bar, or other site elements.
