We’re rolled out audience targeting on pages and news posts, and allow targeting content in the news and highlighted content web parts. You can also soon target links in quick links (see the product roadmap for dates).
If you have specific web parts you’d like to see add audience targeting capabilities, please create an individual request for each part.
It would be helpful to have sections that collapse, tabs, or anchor links for pages that contain lots of information. Word allows you to create bookmarks, and OneNote allows you to create tabs to easily navigate lots of information on a given topic. It would be great if you had the same flexibility with a page in SharePoint948 votes
We’ve shipped anchors on pages for all text web part headings (H1, H2, H3). Simply hover over a heading on a modern page and you’ll see the link symbol to that anchor. Clicking on the link adds it to the end of your page URL #as-an-anchor-using-the-text-from-the-heading.
Please provide the capability to change the header of the new modern pages (i.e. the large banner graphic on which the title is sitting. It currently means page content starts half-way down the screen which isn't the best use of space.736 votes
Modern pages now have different layouts for the tile area that support showing only the title and no image. There are four supported layouts today: Image and title, Plain, Color block, and Overlap.
If you’d like to conserve space and not show an image, please select “Plain”.
We added this capability to both quick links and hero web parts, via the “From a link” tab in the file picker. You can add mailto:.
We do not intend to support other linking formats at this time (e.g. file, ftp)
The modern pages are great, however there should be more flexibility such as being able to select different page layouts and would take the best from the old classic pages and incorporating with the new modern look and feel.416 votes

I would like to be able to remove the header from the new/modern "Pages". When I add a new page on SharePoint online now, I love the new page except for the top header image and text which takes up about a 3rd of the page. It's wasted space and not aesthetically pleasing.276 votes
There are two requests in this one item. Based on the title, I’m going to mark this done with our work to add four layouts to the title area. One of these layouts is called “Plain” and shows only one line of page title, with no image.
Many of the comments are asking for another great feature, not related to the page title area, but rather the site header. We’re also working on allowing options to resize this area. We’ve added a “compact view” for the site header, and have plans for an even more minimized view. If this feature is what you’d like to upvote, please add a new UserVoice request.
other CMS systems already allow this functionality. Instead of having to save an image somewhere and then upload it to SharePoint, let me just drag / drop images on the wiki and blog pages. Would be ideal for screenshots264 votes

The Published date on Modern Site Pages in Classic SharePoint sites is defaulting to US format (MM/DD/YYYY) although the tenant is in AU format (DD/MM/YYYY).

Allow page authors to design page templates right in the Page Edit UI. Page edit would allow them to remove the Title Banner, Logo, left navigation, Edit link, New Link, Share Link, Search box and save the template for reuse.
Page Templates would support web parts and new developed custom JS controls for things like custom navigation controls.206 votes

There is too little control of a Modern Page. You can't control text size and coloring, you have limited format control, and most of all you can't edit source. I used this to drop in things like Image Maps or other HTML that there was no way to add in.196 votes
As we mentioned in the last update, we’re working on anchor linking for modern pages, and it should be available shortly. We’ll clear up the m365 Roadmap to ensure that gets added.
Text formatting is already available in the rich text editor on modern pages.
To create an image map you could use the image web part for a single link, but to make multiple links across different parts of the image, you’d need to leverage a web part designed to do that. There are partners and potentially open source web parts to create Image Maps.

When creating links using the Wysiwig editor we should have the ability to add "tel:" links and "mailto:" links.193 votes
Sorry we neglected to let you know this is already available on modern pages in the text web part. Either type the syntax directly into the page (and on enter we should recognize it), or use ctrl/cmd + K to bring up the page picker.
Consistent with the classic "publishing" use case, would like the ability to add custom columns to modern site pages and make these columns editable in the page properties UI in the Site Pages document library.

You can now add custom columns on the site pages library.
I see these pages have a "Promoted State" and "FirstPublishedDate" that are used to determine if a page should be shown as News, but these properties cannot be changed. I want to be able to take an existing site page, and publish it as News.
Alternatively, you could let me publish news to a library separate from the site pages so I'm not cluttering my wiki page library.55 votes
You can use the promote button on a modern page to promote a current page and make it news.
In SharePoint Online, the site settings option is missing in all the modern pages. It looks weird for all the users as they don't find the direct option to access the site settings page from the landing page of the site. The site settings link is now in the gear dropdown on any modern page.
Traditional calendars are too clunky and users find it difficult to set up a team calendar on their Team Sites - plus there is no intuitive way to embed these in a modern page.
It would be very useful to have a simple Calendar web part - similar to the Events web part - that could be added to a modern page quickly, so that everyone can see each others' activity and schedule team meetings and events more easily.2 votes
We’ve recently rolled out a group calendar web part that allows you to pull in calendar info from your team calendar.
At the moment it doesn’t allow you to schedule team meetings, but we’ll likely not invest on adding that to SharePoint as there are so many other ways to create team calendar events (Outlook, Teams, Skype, etc.) If you feel you need that directly in SharePoint, please tell us more.

You can choose between four title area sizes & layouts. The smallest one (plain) simply shows the title with no image on one line. Click the pencil on the left hand side of the title area to access these settings.
