Open Adobe PDF in client application
Office 365 / SharePoint online needs to support opening PDF documents in SharePoint directly to client application (Adobe Acrobat Pro/DC).
As of this request, technical support has stated the only way to open PDF files in Acrobat is to download/save them.
SharePoint On Premise has supported this feature for some time.
Adobe PDF files are as common and Microsoft Office Suite documents and must be editable directly to/from SharePoint Online without the need to down/save edit, and upload which adds user overhead and lowers productivity.

Add the ability to copy a modern site page from one site to another
You cannot copy a site page from on site to the site pages folder of another site. This is crazy. You can't restructure your pages into other sites. This prevents users from investing any effort in configuration that might change. It is extremely limiting.
2,275 votesThanks for the suggestion. While this can accomplished via PnP Powershell today, we understand the desire to have a way to do it in the UX. We’ll add it to our backlog.

A Total Revamp for Wikis
Could we please have the ability to create Wikis in SharePoint that look like TechNet or Wikipedia? Please try to make things more simple. Do not over complicate it again.
1,253 votesWe know wikis are critical to sharing knowledge within your organization! We’ve been slowly building capabilities to share information more easily with our focus on modern pages and web parts. And with that work, we’ve been adding some of the capabilities we hear you want when people refer to wikis (easily add links to other pages or content, add metadata to each page to help people find and categorize it, roll-up content based on that metadata to show groupings of like content, etc.) But we know this isn’t all that’s required to have a great wiki. Many people also want wiki linking syntax e.g. [[]], we don’t yet support that, but we do support ctrl/command + K from the text web part to search and find pages on your site. We’ll be working on adding wiki syntax shortly. We know you also need easy roll-up pages, maybe an index page,…

Month view for calendar on the page
We would like the calendar display apps (events and group calendar) to allow a "month" view. We love the events parts and like that they link to a group calendar but would love to visualize this in a month or week format
1,117 votesWe’re actively thinking about how we can better support the desire for a great looking, responsive, wall calendar view. As we solidify our thoughts, we’ll share more.

Too much white space
There is too much white space on the new modern pages. I would rather see less white space and be able to adjust the spacing myself.
583 votesThank you for everyone’s feedback around the use of white space on modern pages. We are continually looking for ways to refine our designs and the use of white space is an important part of this. While the custom control of sections or the custom control of columns is not likely to happen, there could be other optimizations we will be thinking about in the future. Thank you.

More than 2 levels of "Group By"
There is a strong need to Group By more than two levels of column data. Example, we use SP to track mosquitos for vector control. I want to Group by Week, Trap Site, Trap Type, Species, Condition, etc... The ability to drill down and see totals for each condition or "Group By" would be fantastic. This leads to the next suggestion, Add Calculated columns to Group By Totals.

Thanks for your suggestion. We’re evaluating technical options for this feature. No guarantees or timelines just yet – but this is something we think would be very useful.

Drag and drop from SharePoint to desktop
In the past, you were able to not only drag and drop files from your desktop to SharePoint, you could also drag and top files visvera from your SharePoint to your desktop. Unfortunately, this feature does not work any longer and was never intented to work based on the statement of the support specialist (Office365 support case: SRX616012694500709ID). I do not see a security issue here, because it only worked when the site was part of the trusted sites/intranet in the IE options. eRoom had this feature with a plug-in already back in 2002 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ERoom). It would be…

Remove the 255 character restriction on Hyperlink fields
There is currently a 255 character restriction on Hyperlink fields. This restriction impedes ability to save Urls that might include hash values are long query strings. Some examples where this is really common are links to SSRS reports (with parameters) and Search urls that contain refinements.

Thanks for your suggestions. We agree this can be a little restrictive and we’re going to look into it.

Please provide option to customize email templates
Please provide option to customize email templates used to send notifications out of SharePoint online like "Send by Email" feature on modern UI pages, sharing notifications to other users. Most organizations do not allow users to install mobile apps. Providing information that is not approved will confuse the users and require constant training.
340 votesThank you for this suggestion. We have definitely heard the feedback. While we don’t have any plans at this time to enable custom email templates this is something we’ll think about as we move forward and prioritize items for our future roadmap. Thank you.

Ability to save a file directly into a library and choose the metadata
There are some ways but they are limited. They don’t work in some situations or from any application. The saving experience to a shared drive is still so much more consistent!
- Use a favorite/add network location/map network drive
- In Office, we can choose where to save, pin in each application
- Save from an email: a message or attachment by saving on the desktop
It would be amazing to be able to:
1. Mark all sites (or libraries) where we would want to save (shortcuts)
2. Click on save in any application and be able to choose one…317 votes -
Permissions report - inheritance breaks
Allow the owners of the sites to view a report of the security of their site. Start by adding a chart of the inheritance breaks of the whole site in one glance. This will become more and more important since you can use the 'Share' button on a file and break inheritance without understanding what you're doing.

Add Rating Settings to Document Libraries
Add the "Rating Settings" to document libraries in Communication Sites. This exists on other doc libraries from other site templates. This would allow users to rate/like content and we could add a section of "most like documents" etc to the page.

Add Article Tagging to the Modern News Feature
It would be great to tag News posts/articles by category (e.g., training, motivational, announcement, etc.). Users could then refine by category to see all articles under that tag.

Organize sharepoint sites
I'd like to be able to organize the home page of sites i'm following to put the sites I use the most at the top, and group similar sites --for instance, I have several sites that are related to Human resources work, but I only use them occasionally and would like them to put them in a folder or notebook. Instead, they are all listed separately and I have to scroll through them to get to the ones I use more frequently. If there is already a way to do this, it is NOT apparent on the way my sharepoint…

Support Field level Permissions
SharePoint should support Field-Level permissions. It is very common to need the ability to show/hide field values depending on current user permissions

Thanks for the feedback. We don’t have any plans for column-level permissions at this time, but I’ll leave the UV item active here in case folks want to add further comments.

The document library WebPart should interpret .url files as links rather than downloads
If someone creates a link file (.url) in modern document libraries and clicks on them, he is rerouted to the target url.
If you embed a document library Web Part in a modern SharePoint page that points to the same document library and you click the .url file, a download will be triggered.
However, the creators expect the URL files to behave in the same way as they do in the document library, so the user is redirected to the landing page.134 votesWe’ve added this to our backlog of features for the document library web part
