SharePoint Online should preserveve modified date and more from imported files
When importing files from file shares to SharePoint in Office 365 the modified date and so on is set equal to the import time. This means SharePoint is not able to display the correct historic dates of files, though it actually keep initially modified date when viewing file details in Explorer view so the date actually still is there but not visible.
For SharePoint to be a true content management system basic metadata should be preserved when moved to SharePoint. Not being able to track such metadata may for many companies be an issue and at the same time end users will think old historic files are actually quite new.

We are doing an organization migration from a 3rd party app and a number of OneDrive as well as Local disks to SharePoint as our new DMS, we need to preserve the original metadata.

Please address this issue ASAP, Modified date information is necessary for the files in Sharepoint.
Wholeheartedly agree with this. I cannot emphasize enough how basic and important this issue is.
It's ridiculous that we cannot have original date displayed in SPO. Without this critical property visible, it may result in our re-evaluating a new platform to replace Office 365.
Why i have to use a third party tool for a simple upload ?
I think that the header of the file with all his properties must be preserved when uploaded.
