Drag and drop from SharePoint to desktop
In the past, you were able to not only drag and drop files from your desktop to SharePoint, you could also drag and top files visvera from your SharePoint to your desktop. Unfortunately, this feature does not work any longer and was never intented to work based on the statement of the support specialist (Office365 support case: SRX616012694500709ID). I do not see a security issue here, because it only worked when the site was part of the trusted sites/intranet in the IE options. eRoom had this feature with a plug-in already back in 2002 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ERoom). It would be great if this feature would be part of SharePoint/Office365 again. Here you can find a few links where the functionality was described:
We’ve got this work item logged.
This is another thing that currently works in file explorer but is threatened by Internet Explorer being pulled in August 2021. Please upvote:
Think about it and implement - just to the desktop is acceptable but you can drag from a local / network drive into SharePoint / OneDrive - please let me do it the other way. I feel I am being pushed into solely cloud-storage with clunky 'send files back to local drives' methods and this isn't suitable for all my requirements. And WHY, when you're downloading a file from SP and choose to Save, can't you choose a file save location? It confuses end users that they HAVE to go into Downloads.

And from SharePoint directly to Outlook :D
Since IE is EOL and End of Support, it would be great to be able to download via drag & drop in other browsers. (at the very least, in Edge, since it is a MS product).
We need to email files from multiple subfolders of Sharepoint libraries to one person in one email. The only way I can see to do this is drag and drop onto a blank email in Outlook. Please add this functionality!
The work item has been logged since 2016!!! Please update us.
Please add this! It would be so much easier!!!
It would be so much easier.....please!
Why are we still waiting on this???????? We need it to work!
Yes, this is a functionality we miss a lot. There is no rreson not to include again.
I agree. If it has been logged since 2016, it should be resolved at this point. It severely cramps my ability to work with files, especially since I cannot force my Adobe Acrobat files to be opened in Acrobat instead of your browser-based reader.
It's 2018 Microsoft. Get your software to be HTML 5 compliant! All major websites, GOogle Docs, Dropbox, etc allow simple drag and drop!

This has definitely been a really sore point with the University rolling this out to everyone. It was rolled out to a small group first and this has been a big discussion in our Technology Champions meeting. The drag and drop feature being taken away creates more steps and reduces productivity. it would be great if you would reinstate this feature.

Is there any update on this? This is an issue for my users too.

In our company not being able to drag from Sharepoint to desktop/outlook is one of the main reasons we don't use the new experience. In my opinion, a "new" experience should add functionality and not take it away

Drag and Drop of any file from SharePoint library to Desktop is not possible in New look of Library. It should work as it's working in classic view.
For us it's working in Windows 7 but not in 8.1 and 10
Simon, our agency uses this function without issue in SPO. I frequently drag and drop both ways you're describing.
