Custom restrictions of file types that user can upload to a document library.
SharePoint Online. We really need to set some restrictions of file types that user can upload to a document library.
For example, to deny upload file with extension .bmp and .tiff.
Thanks for your feedback. We were wondering if you asked for this control only on Team sites or OneDrive for Business as well?

Please add "file screen" functionality to SharePoint Online similar to the one available on Windows Servers (2013, 2016, 2019). If you can add entire "File Server Resource Management" functionality to SharePoint Online it would be even better!!!!
It would be great if the file type exclusion restrictions can be set up on account on OneDrive and SharePoint by Sites, as well as reports in Office 365 portal for different services to be configured an email account to be mailed.
We wish to have this option as well. Limiting the sync can be bypassed.

This should be a simple file type restriction option...

I'm curious as your questions have been answered in this thread why we have not heard anything back? We have the ability to restrict file types in One Drive now but we still can't for Site Collections or Team Sites. It's really time consuming and costly for us to waste time tracking down all the "incidents" purely because we can't block exe, zip, etc.

We would like to be able to specify which file types cannot be uploaded by user type i.e. staff or students. it is mainly .exe files that we would like to block however having to ability to block other file types would make sense.
Please add the file type restricition feature on Site and Library level as well
Team sites, teams private channel sites, OneDrive are a must to be able to restrict file types. Ideally have the ability on all site templates.
Bump. Please work on adding this at site level and document library level.

I want it available on all document libraries, both those in Teams sites and non-team sites.
Awaiting Feature to Block executable from Sharepoint, I thought we were supposed to be safe on the cloud!
Please give us the ability to block certain file types to SharePoint Online & Teams!
Please add File type restrictions to Libraries in SPO. Why this is not available I don't know, especially for sensitive organisations.

We have a large number of customers (especially in Local Government and Police Forces) where File Type controls are critical.
Please implement the following configurable file extension blocking functionality in SharePoint Online:
(1) globally blocked file extensions (such as Executable files) applied across all Site Collections - similar to those available in SharePoint Server 2019
(2) per Site Collection file extension blocking rules (that override the global rules) to allow for appropriate Business Use cases where, for example, media files are only permitted in certain Site Collections

Both SP and Team sites.
without this simple function, we will look at other products. The risk to us and out employees is too great.

I can´t believe Microsoft doesn´t have this enabled. A client just asked us if this could be possible and we are reviewing that it could only be done in synchronization with the computer, but not in the web page of OneDrive and SharePoint.
The worst thing is that for Microsoft PMs would be no big deal to implement this. You need to enable this as ASAP, otherwise you will see a lot of potential customers choosing G Suit.

I would like to have this feature enabled in both Onedrive and SharePoint because at present our users don't bother about the space and internet bandwidth and keep on uploading any files like videos/audios/images which are dodgy files and have to be blocked to save on space and BW.
MS employee, are you serious? this should be for both onedrive and sharepoint. Also we want to block everything because we never want to use this stupid product. We use Box and it's way better. Why don't you implement this already?!?!
It would be great to be able to apply restrictions on file types people can upload similarly to OneDrive. Looking to prevent users adding file types like .exe and .iso files for security and storage space reasons.
