Enable renaming the SPO tenant domain
Currently the site collection URLs are fixed as https://tenant.sharepoint.com and cannot be changed. This does not fit with flexible cloud-based solutions - business needs will inevitably result in an organisation changing it's name during its lifetime (mergers, acquisitions, rebranding etc). While it may not be possible to change it so that entirely custom domains are used (eg contoso.com, instead of sharepoint.com), it must be possible to allow the sub-domain to be changed (eg. newtenant.sharepoint.com)? Please?
Migrating an entire organisation (likely to include Exchange, Skype, Sharepoint and Onedrive data!!) to a new Tenancy is absolutely not a viable option.
Providing the ability to scale from renaming individual sites, to all sites within a SharePoint tenant, while ensuring a consistent user experience across M365 is a complex problem. We have been working hard on this long-awaited feature and are currently validating this with a subset of customers in a closed (no longer accepting nominations) Private Preview Program. As we consolidate their feedback, we will provide another update in the next few months.

Would love an update on this.

We recently moved from a hosted exchange to Office 365. When setting up the admin site, the desired account name was already taken. We created a temp name so that we can get the account created. We are now looking into configuring Sharepoint however, we can only create sites under the temp name and not the name that we want. We cannot create a new admin account since the account name we want is already being used. The sharepoint link shouldn't match the account name that was created in the admin account, but should allow the domains that an account owns.

Giva us a date!!!!!!!!!!!
Could you please provide an update to us concerning this highly needed feature? Even “no progress” is an update. This is really important feature for companies going through restructuring or re-branding.
We are having the same request for modifying the site collection and looking forward to getting a notificaiotn once the O365 team has provided a solution for it. thanks
What about host named site collections or at the very least being able to use a custom domain name instead of xxxx.sharepoint.com for the tenant's webapp?
Please add! Why isn't there a notice when signing up that the name will affect OneDrive and SP URL's?? Also, businesses change names and need the ability to change this fluidly, not having to buy a new tenant and migrate!

Yes this certainly needs to be added. No point me buying addtional domains and managing everything under one Office 365 account if I cannot create seperate sharepoint URL's.

This is direly needed. Is there any update on where Microsoft is with this solution?
Is there any current ETA? We need to change the domain but we have a full setup O365 at the moment and we don't want to move all settings, data and subscription with a massive amount of time when this feature will be available in 3-6 months.
Please add this functionality

Thanks Msft. We've needed this for 5 years due to a DBA change, now we have changed our Corp. name and we must change our SharePoint url at this time.
This is a must-have feature - primarily for M&A situations. It's incredible expensive to perform a tenant-to-tenant migration when you're utilizing multiple Office 365 services (e.g. Exchange Online, OneDrive for Business, SharePoint Online) and potentially limited to impossible for some of the new services (e.g. Microsoft Teams).

We need this renaming solution capability ASAP for our corporate environment.
Let's see whether MSFT will complete this feature in 2050.
This would be fabulous! I'm in the process of combining two Office365 tenants, and adding a new domain to this tenant. Our best choice was to take the more mature (fully used) tenant, and move the other tenant emails/etc over.
We would also like to have the SharePoint site URL reflect the domain.

Should be addressed and given feedback on: https://office365.uservoice.com/forums/273493-office-365-admin/suggestions/10285887-make-is-possible-to-change-tenant-name-in-office36
I'm looking for this feature, as well. Is there an estimated date of delivery for this?
