Copy document to same library

When using the "Copy" function in a library, it seems the intention is to create a copy of the document in another library.

But when users want to just create a copy of a document in the same location with a different file name, SharePoint throws an error.

Why can the copy function not simply allow a new copy in the same library with a different filename?

And it would be even better to have a 'hidden' link with the master file...So when the master gets updated, the child gets a notification or something...

This functionality is really needed for ease of use (especially for new users used to file maps)

It would be nice to have a browse button to locate the destination library AND by default use the same library the file currently resides in. Furthermore, if I copy a page with a webpart in, the webpart is gone in the copied page.
