We really need this on-prem for SP2019 please, desperately. Having Document Sets still be in Classic mode causes no end of issues for users and customisation.

Warning to anyone looking to use Document Sets in SharePoint Online in the year 2020.
Current issue, if you have a Document Set with an additional metadata field that is set to required. If you sync that library or the document set itself and drag a new file in, you will be locked out by the OneDrive sync client - which means you can only work with modern document sets from the browser and not from the file system..

Sometime we want to move document sets from one library to another. Only way to get it done is via the file explorer but then all fields apart from the title are blank.
I'd love to move them directly from the libraries without data lost. -

To update my previous comment, some of the things I'd like to see:
- Capture versions (including relevant action in Power Automate)
- Allow hidden fields to be used on the document set welcome page (pane of the right). I often set fields via workflow and want them to display for the doc set, but don't want the user to change them. Worked fine on classic document sets
- I'd also love to see the welcome pages come back, especially if you can also make the Page View Filter webpart for modern sites. This was great for linking a list to a document set, so I could e.g. have a doc set for a committee meeting and then show the agenda/minutes on the doc set homepage.
- Default content type within a doc set is currently the first one in the list (not the first one I set in the document set settings)
- When using Power Automate to update fields in a doc set, there is a bug for document sets. If I leave a choice, hyperlink or date field blank in the flow, then nothing changes. If I leave a text or note field blank, then it deletes the old value leaving it null. -

Glad to see that I can now add document sets - I use them a lot for processes (e.g. creating a new project/object with metadata like project status and child documents).
One of the key things missing for me is the ability to capture versions (which would also require a relevant action in Flow/Power Automate). At the moment, the only history I have is in Flow, which is not very easy to follow for individual users. -

This doesn't appear to have been fully implemented yet. While the modern interface allows viewing of Version History via right-click, there's no option to Capture Version. It's still necessary to go back to the classic experience to capture a version. This is far from ideal for users on the front line.

We also need PowerApps to modify the View, Edit, Create forms on the Document Library and Document Set within the library.
Currently, you can create a stand alone PowerApp that uses the Document Library as a data source, but this is not the same thing. We currently have no way to update or modify the default forms in a Document Set or Document Library.
Thank you

It seems the Doc Set Welcome Page has disappeared in Modern View - any plans fro upgrading this?

Document Sets feature in modern library was meant to be released on April 2019, it was a couple of weeks later with some bugs though.
Now, I think Microsoft is still working hard on this feature but people may notice this feature is done in some tenants (older ones first) while still pending in others. For instance, in my tenant Document Sets were available yesterday but I cannot set custom metadata when creating a document set. I can only set a Name, then I have to edit the created Document Set to set custom metadata.

I already use Document Sets, but there is still the classic UI.
Although today I discovered that my users are not able to change the name of a set, but they do have contribute rights.
I am so desperately waiting for the modern version to be ready! -

Is it planned to have something similar to the classic document set homepage?

Some more information please! The date you stated for delivering modern document sets has past....

Troubling that in a separate SharePoint discussion thread it is saying May roll-out date. But no update on here since 2018.

Doc sets have received no love for a decade now, even though its the core technology to go out of obsolete folder structure to a modern document management where users can start a full process, have tags and templates ready. how much longer MS needs to bring this to life?

Hi, I am waiting to roll Document Sets out to our team. I can't until we have the new interface so not to change twice in quick succession. Can you update us please so I can manage the process?
Just hoping for the Monday morning email with an update isn't very helpful when you are trying to plan!
