Regional settings for International sites
International projects integrate people collaborating from various locations with different cultural backgrounds AND DIFFERENT DATE FORMATS AND NUMBER FORMATS.
Site settings link a region to a language, date & time format, number format. In Windows these settings are separated. Better.
I need an option to select English (International = US English), ISO8601 date & time format YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM, and a number format using a dot as decimal point. This is currently impossible to find. US Military and international teams in science as well as many global organizations need these settings. It is not good to force the US date format onto the world. It is misleading and creates confusion.
An alternative would be that the SharePoint site takes the settings from the local machine. Dates are displayed in local format depending on the local settings of the browser or the PC. Maybe too difficult.
Separating date, time, number format, currency format, language from the region would also be fine.
Sharepoint Team, where are the ISO 8601 settings for Sharepoint?
I can only agree with that. I fight with the same situation, international cooperation with standardized ISO time format. I see this as a basic requirement for an internationally standardized communication in a project group! A quick and sustainable solution to this requirement would be welcome.

Each user has a regional setting in his/her profile. User regional settings can override site settings when it comes to date, numbers, and currency. Under Region -> Choose your settings, select "Always use my personal settings".
It's difficult to know which regional setting has the date and number format you want, but I think English (South Africa) has a date format of YYYY/MM/DD which is close to ISO8601.
