SharePoint access control visibility
Access control is extremely important to my company and our customers. Currently, unless you're an Owner of a team site, you have a very limited view of who has access to what. Members can see who content has been shared with via the Share->Shared With dialog view, but this doesn't show the level of access those individuals have (read vs. write). This causes angst among our users who sometimes won't add content because they are not sure who has the ability to modify the content they add. To get around this, we have created a custom page for our team sites called "Access Control" that displays the membership of those groups associated with the team site. This at least provides the default access controls by name. It would be brilliant if users could easily be able to see who has what level of access to containers and objects in a team site.
We also need this, and it's really important to us.
We need detailed control regarding access control on all levels of our team sites in SharePoint
In stead of presenting a list over access groups, and then you must go through every group to see who have access in that group, we need a list over all users and what access each user has.
We had this in SharePoint 2010 and we need to have it also in SharePoint Online – both Classic and Modern experience.
For example like this:
John Smith Read access All content
Jill Smith Write access Folder X, Folder Y
Tim.firstname.lastname@example.org Write access Folder Y
Please make this happen!
