Automate populate Person field with [Me] value
It would be helpful to be able to automatically populate a List Person field with the name of the user adding an item to a list. Option would need to allow for easily overriding the automatic entry.

You can do this with PowerApps replacing the default list entry form. Yes, not out of the box, but it is possible if really needed. We needed this for our own timesheet app in SharePoint and had to use PowerApps to make it easier for the users.

Please could you add this Microsoft. We use SharePoint for timesheets, but cannot use 'Created by' as timesheets are sometimes created on behalf of the user by other people. We therefore have a 'Timesheet for' field which is a People field. It would be fantastic to default to the person creating the list item rather than users having to find themselves every time. Thanks.

Is Microsoft planning to look into this?

Totally agree.
Had to implement this functionality today and spent a while on programming the Source with script.
Waste of time to do it manually ! -

Yes! An OOB solution would be very helpful. Making users pick their own name from a people picker is not well received by our users. However, our policy is to use OOB as much as possible.

Shocked that there is not an OOB solution to setting a default user in a people picker.

This would be very handy. We have a number of lists/forms where we would like to default to the current user but allow that user change the value.
