Allow creation of managed path
On prem, we use web apps and managed path to define our sites structure. I understand that we cannot have webapps online but why can't we create managed path?
I would use it to group sites by type
http://tenant/teams/TeamA
http://tenant/groups/GroupA
http://tenant/services/IT
http://tenant/clients/000000
It would help for search and administration.
Thanks.

This exact same request is also posted in the SharePoint Admin uservoice forum: https://sharepoint.uservoice.com/forums/330318-sharepoint-administration/suggestions/18967900-create-managed-paths-in-sharepoint-online

Even if there is a legitimate technical reason why custom managed paths cannot be brought back to the admin console, at least give us a few more options besides "teams" and "sites". Even medium sized organizations need more mores to group their sites than that.

Also in need of this possibility to "tag" site collections. Why isn't this implemented

I know this is old but YES PLEASE. This is holding many companies back from migrating and sticking to on Prem farms due to the lack of control. It is holding me back because of third party integration software requiring a specific path name.

A path for archive would also be great. There are multiple suggestions for adding managed path capabilities. Would be nice to combine the suggestions to see how many requests there are. This would be very useful in organizing SP Online site collections.

No a subsites requires a root web. An managed path may be an absolute URL path without an root web on top of it.
ith thie you can "categorize" webs like Departements.

Isn't this what subsites does?
