Ability to set 'Tile' or 'List' as a default view
Please allow libraries to be show in List view by default.
I don't mind tile view, but when I got to all the trouble of setting up columns and mandatory fields and it displays tiles by default for each new user, all the power of the document library metadata is hidden.
This happened for me when the library contained only PDFs
This feature is currently in progress and we are targeting summer 2020 for the release date
Having the Tile view as the default view would help with opening files on phones.
the tile view settings is just another setting of the view, it should be saved, when we click on "save curent view". I think this is not even a suggestion, its a bug in sharepoint online. Please do something.

Yes, urgent need to set default to Tiles not List
Also needed here as well. Our users prefer Tile view over list.

Great suggestion. We also need ability to set 'Tile' or 'List' as a default view. Thanks.
This is a badly needed feature. I just migrated a list with over 600 items with a lot of metadata fields to help with searching, and it is all in tiles and there is no way that I (have found yet anyway) can make the list view be the default. As others have said, it reverts back randomly as well!

I am finding despite viewing libraries in List view, next time I return to the same library (in the same session even) it is defaulting back to Tile view.
I also find this very frustrating after educating and establishing the metadata for each team site.
It is now an extra step to switch back to List view in the modern interface annoying clients.
Allow the filter, information and tiles to be configured and visible by default using views.
That is badly needed feature for creative asset mgmt. No one wants to look at 100 pictures using list... :(

My thinking is that this should be configurable - either it can set a view to show the "List", "compact list" or "Tiles" view by default - so that owners of the library can define the what the library looks like by default.
It would also be nice to allow a link to the specific view to also be configured - that way if you wanted to send someone to the library and default it to the "Tiles" view you could do that.
Some content is better off shown in a list format or compact list format while other content is better off shown in the Tiles format. For example a library with photos looks better in Tiles vs a bunch of documents.

This should be an option when creating or editing a view; should it be displayed as a list or as tiles, just like all the other view properties such as sorting or filtering.
Currently the setting seems to be stored in Local Storage for the site.
Similar request, but i would like to default to "Tiles" view by default. Defaulting to either value (list or tiles) seems like a configuration that should be toggled when setting up custom document library views.
I really would like this too, even though we want the opposite. We have graphic content that we would like to have set as Tile view per default. It is always list view next time you enter the document library, whatever changes we try to make.
