Make rename in Teams reflect name changes in Sharepoint?
When I rename a folder in the Teams app, the underlying folder is not renamed in sharepoint. This is most confusing.
Quick update on this suggestion. We are still working on this with MS Teams. We don’t have an ETA to share still.
Sad... This issue is stopping our company from adopting Teams...
Waitin for update...
[Deleted User] wasn't very tactful, but I do share the underlying opinion: This idea is the third most voted for and we haven't heard a thing from the SharePoint team on even whether it might be considered. Please throw us something to go on, even if it's just to say you're not going to look into it yet. I'm the guy that has to answer when my coworkers run into this problem and ask why it doesn't work, and I'm getting tired of saying "I don't know, apparently Microsoft doesn't care about this issue because they won't comment."

Is the PM dead?
Why there is no response about "accept" or "reject" for this feedback?
This is a major bug. it realy stops organisations to adopt teams.

so much needed!
Amen -- this is a critically irritating feature, add to it the fact that if I renamed the channel, but then realized I would need to delete the channel to create a new folder with the right name, I have to modify the channel name before deleting it so I can reuse it. Very hinky.

The specific use case I'm seeing and I'm hoping the solution to this issue will include can be reproduced as follows:
- Create a team in the Teams app. It creates a SharePoint site with the same name as expected.
- Rename the team in the Teams app. The SharePoint site, while still linked to the team, now still has the old team name as it's name.
- To correct the name in SharePoint (as the site owner), I have to click the gear in the top right corner then select "Site Information" It will then display a text box that can be edited, but surprisingly already contains the new team name so all you have to do is click Save and the site name now matches the Team name.
fingers crossed this will be fixed soon
I'm also hindered by this incompetence of SharePoint. Please listen to the community and come up with a fix. It has been way too long since the first post and a resolution.

This issue is stopping our company from adopting MS Teams as our primary team management tool. Whilst implementing the product a lot of re-configuration is occurring until we can identify the correct level a channel is needed.
Every time we identify that we need to structure things in a different way we would need to scrap all channels already adopted in order to re-align to SharePoint. This is unworkable.
Please look into this bug as a priority, although not stopping the product from being used, it is stopping businesses from adopting Teams as a solution.
This is a significant bug (inconvenience if you prefer) with obvious implications the longer a Teams channel has been utilized.
1. Renaming the channel without renaming the back-end folder creates user confusion
2. Renaming the back-end folder breaks the link and browsing files is no longer possible
There needs to be either an "Owner" capability to repair or choose a specific folder to assign to the Files tab
There needs to be a GUID or other property that marks a folder with it's appropriate channel such that renaming on either end does not impact the association
Please fix this....it is enough to stop me from using Teams.
Critical update needed on this. We had a name change that completely disrupted the file structure and required the entire team to re-sync.
This is crucially ruining the user experience. This kind of issues cause companies/users to withdraw using Teams. I am really looking forward to this update.
Attempting to use Teams to support hundreds of staff across a large geographical area and the inability to change channel names without this syncing with the sharepoint site makes the entire project unsustainable. Please recctify ASAP or at least provide an update.
I add to everybody. This update is KEY to finally rely on this tool. All mentioned arguments are enough.
Please do it!
It's a fairly serious fault to not have name changes reflected between products. If teams is MS flagship collaboration product, this should definitely be a priority. Its embarrassing
This needs to be actioned, it's been a year already, do we need to move to a competitor's ecosystem?
Renaming in Sharepoint will create a new folder and it will remove the reference to the teams channel / files folder.
This is very bad as if someone accidentally rename or delete the folders, then the files will be lost.
can this be actioned asap? changes needs to be updated in Sharepoint and Teams. People use the software to easy the process, however, this issue is making things harder.
Yep, this needs to happen soon!
This needs to be a priority! Having a big teams with multiple channels is becoming a headache real fast when structures in Teams changes, but the underlying structure in Sharepoint does not. Unbearable!
