Enable Audience targeting on modern page web parts
It would be great to be able to target content by Audience (using global audiences and SharePoint groups) on the modern web parts just like we were able on the classic pages. Thanks
We’re rolled out audience targeting on pages and news posts, and allow targeting content in the news and highlighted content web parts. You can also soon target links in quick links (see the product roadmap for dates).
If you have specific web parts you’d like to see add audience targeting capabilities, please create an individual request for each part.

For the moment, just create a column called Audience and populate it the way you want, persons and groups of course don't work, but at least you have the page properties

It is very important to be able to design pages that cater for different audience groups. We are trying really hard to use the Modern UI, because the responsiveness and ease of design and maintenance are great. However, unless we can target web parts to different user groups, it is not possible to use these pages for home pages, which is a real shame.

you know... the lack of features like this is the ones that keep us from moving to the modern experience.
if you arent implementing the features we use modern experience aint gonna happen

We have this on premises so lack of this feature inhibits moving these sites out to O365

Not having this feature really does make the transition extremely difficult. It's like they're rebuilding SharePoint from scratch and forgot about the features that made it great to work with. I really hope they add back this feature or give us a good alternative.

this is really a show stopper for any intranet.
Without this functionality our intranet will not work ?
any updates on this ?

This is a really important feature to us. We don't want to have to produce two different sites for our staff and students when it may be that only a single page, navigation item or web part needs to be filtered to a specific audience. Please bring back the webpart and navigation cababilities of classic Sharepoint.
I would like to add to the target audience discussion to including navigation links! It is VERY handy to be able to specific navigation links show up for only specific groups. This would be hand for all navigation including quick launch (left side), top bar, and hub sites!
Can someone update this?
Expose user properties as filter options in highlight content web part perhaps?

@MS any progress on this?
Concerning that this status hasn't been updated for over 6 months.

The inability to deliver target content really difficults adoption of the modern sites. Please re-think this.

This was such a big miss on Microsoft's part and should have been remediated almost immediately by the product team.

We require this and unfortunately this is not supported.
I would request Microsoft to consider support for audiencing in modern pages too.
Its a kind of setback.. :(

This is a requirement for us as well. Jive has this functionality using Streams, but we cannot do this with SharePoint communication site
Can't believe this is not a standard? Such a requirement and no brainier. Vic Government.

Now that classic web parts are being deprecated, or limited in O365 this becomes more useful as stated for large global users. We try to stay OOB as much as possible to minimize impact for support, so the additional option would be helpful.
Actual State of Thinking About it?
How's the thinking going? This is an incredible value add for global companies.
