Add event registration to Communication Sites
While I love being able to create events easily in SP Communication sites (and love that users can add them to their calendars), not having the ability to have users register for limited capacity events means we have to duplicate the information or abandon the events in SP all together.

Thank you for everyone’s feedback. We are not planning on adding support for event registration at this time but we will keep it in mind in the future when we look at improving the overall event story on SharePoint.

This to me is a core feature required on SharePoint comms sites. Quite surprised to see it's not in the plans considering the asks.

We really need this feature either on the Events within the modern SharePoint sites or via some other mechanism.

Is there a nice workaround in place which can by used to care for the missing issues?
- register / unregister
- limit amount of attendees
- provide a confirmation message / appointment noteHow do the others solve the issue while Microsoft does not have on their plan?

We create a lot of events that are recurring i.e. training. It would be nice not just allow to have it easily added to your Outlook but also lets the event organizer know who will be attending

We really need this! We are migrating from Jive, which has this capability. This is one of the biggest downsides of the migration.

We need this really bad as well. It's so hard to plan live events where seating is limited, etc. without the ability to register. We have to rely on old outdated methods or duplicate efforts to try and manage this and it impacts a lot of groups in our business. 3rd party applications are often resorted to :(

Okay Microsoft, how about giving the events web part some real value, minimally?
1. - Allow for recurring events - i.e. training sessions, monthly meetings, etc.
2 - Allow for a link to a MS Form for registration
3 - Allow for a maximum registration added to the event based on the connection to the related form.Granted you may need a separate recurring/registration events web part from the current single event web part, but it would make the display of events more valued.

Would be awesome! Also, having update notifications for users who add the event to their calendar.

The current incarnation of the "Events" webpart works well to publicize open events (i.e. open-to-all web conferences). But as soon as the event is capacity-limited (i.e. a meeting at a physical location), and registration must be in place, we also have to rely on another service. The event on the external service can still be aded to the SP event as a link; still, not really convenient, as we do have to rely on two services instead of having a one-stop-shop in SP.

Yes, we just ran an event and although team members liked the ease of the "Add to Calendar" feature, as the event organizer, I found that not being able to see who has registered a big drawback to using the Events feature. Would be great to see a registration list and also the ability to limit capacity.

Right now I have to create a registration form in Forms and put the link in the event body - It works but seems clumsy - as the event creator I would love for the user to be able to register for the event like an acceptance to a meeting invite. That way I can see everyone who has registered in my calendar. It would also be awesome to indicate max registrations for when capacity is met.

Hi Angella, this is definitely something that we have come across and agree it would be a great to have the ability to manage events through our Communications site. Any response from Microsoft would be great!
