Make People Webpart filterable/refineable for retrieving and showing up the rigth people
pls extend functionality in people webpart so that we are able to:
A) Retrieve by AAD-Department, and then showing each person with corresponding department(s) in view-mode
B) Retrieve People by Delve Profile Field "ask me about". So a possible config would be i.E. Intranet or Azure Automation or Yammer, Marketing, Project Management taken from the "ask me about" Profile Field entries and thereby showing the people with Intranet in the Profile-Field.
This is useful because contacts under an article may fluctuate over time, and by adding through department and/or "ask me about" you do not have to edit every page manually when a contact is not "available" any more for any reasons, because people are retrieved by "responsibility"/department.
I would also like to sort by first name, last name, and/or department.

Very much agree! And to add to #B, add text in the "About me" in Delve/My profile into the description Field in the People Web part on SharePoint Online (both Team site and Communication sites).
This is very useful eg. to show all the members of a Collaboration Community for instance (use #Collaboration to queery), when people are working in different departments, but still all to be displayed in the community page.

People Webpart in edit mode:
Section where you would be able to do a retrievel of people by department:
Department-> equals/not equals/contains->Project Management/empty(department will not be used for retrieval)
and a second section in Edit Mode underneath Department with "ask me about":
"ask me about"->equals/not equals/contains -> and/or selection for checkboxes->(checkboxes generated by "ask me about" fields) Intranet, Yammer, Teams, SharePoint, Sales
