Ability to open Quick Links items in new tab
I'd like the ability to specify whether items using the Quick Links app open in a new tab or not.

We are currently working on a plan to add this feature, but have no timeline to share at the moment.

just to echo existing sentiments, the ability to choose to open in a new tab (e.g. to a pdf or external web form) vs choose to stay on the same tab would make quicklinks much more functional.

I'd also like the option to be able to download a linked file as well.

it looks like there are a number of other suggestions with a similar request, can they be merged to increase awreness of this request?
Please allow us to manage mega menu, so that we can select if to enable link/page to open in a new tab or not (megga menu and quick links

This is a great suggestion - our quick links go offsite to other pages and this way the Intranet can stay in its own tab.

Just found a workaround - create an email template and direct the Hero webpart to open that file. In Microsoft Office, this would be an OFT file. You cannot select this file using the browse 'site' selection option as it does not show up as a supported filetype, but it works if you put in the link path to the template on the site.

The option to create a quicklink url with target_blank would be nice.

Currently, the links in a "quick links" webpart open only in the same windows. If we could choose whether a link opens in the same windows or in a new tab would greatly improve user's experience.
Please make it possible! -

that would be great to link to a page or document that opens in a side panel so i can view without having to leave my original page.

Update the Hero web part to allow us to select when we click a link to open in new tab, current browser window, modal dialog or slide out from right or left of page (like the new list forms do).

Can Microsoft make the "Quick Link" filmstrip programmable to choose if links be open in Window, New Tab or New Window?
It would be nice to have this because some users complain that the Hero Links are to image heavy.
