Modern experience for Task lists
Half our lists are not normal lists but task lists. Often both normal lists and task lists are combined in themed processes with lookups.
It would be really great if the task lists can also switch to the modern experience. It is getting really annoying now to have a mixture of classic and modern experience within the same site/for a single process. Specially for the end user there is need in consistency. Also to introduce the modern experience properly it is much better when a total site can be changed at once and not only a few apps.

Again something that Microsoft has started but not finished thinking about. Who the heck tests the whole thing before it's rolled out. I thought Modern Experience was a good thing... but is in my opinion only half-finished, if normal lists like tasks cannot be added correctly with the own view.
You could display the list via "highlighted content". However, this view is not useful either, because 1. you cannot select the columns to be displayed and 2. you cannot change the title of the display.

I agree, major functionality gap that should be acknowledged and addressed.

Microsoft Lists talked about in the Build 2020 conference is most likely the replacement. I don't see them investing in a modern task list specifically for SharePoint. It'd be nice if they at least acknowledged this request but .

It would be much easier to encourage our users to adopt Modern Pages if they supported more basic features (like adding Task lists).

Can microsoft please provide some comment. Should we abandon the expectation that this will ever get resolved just so we can determined a another method?

We need to understand if Microsoft's roadmap is changing since the modern experience is adding a slew of functionality. This issue is not going on for 2 years

Moving to modern SharePoint. Displaying Tasks on a Team site homepage is a basic expectation. All I can do is use a Highlighted Content web part, but that shows only Title, created by and created date--not useful.
MicroSoft you need to address this baseline expectation!

I would also like to upvote this as an issue. We are currently engaged in a major project to move legacy on-premise SharePoint sites to our SharePoint Online tenant. Given the current focus and emphasis by Microsoft on the Modern Experience, I would agree with others who have posted comments on this issue. We as a company and an E3 license MS customer have embraced the new Modern Experience and are moving sites into that mode. Microsoft needs to continue focusing on completing the transition to the Modern Experience so it's SharePoint Online customers do not have to continue to have this mixture of the classic and modern experience in SharePoint Online sites.

We need to have the modern task lists with workflows made in Power Automate (Flow) for documentation for authorities, but that is currently not possible. We now have to create custom lists from scratch to try to get the wanted functionality. Planner is not an option as we have to control permissions on each task.

Indications are MS is investing in Planner but there is no feature parity between Planner and SP Task list. These are different products. My clients use SP Task lists regularly for task management. Unless significant enhancements can be made to Planner then modernizing Task lists is the responsible thing to do.

This is essential. We are still using old sharepoint tool for task/project following

Please natively include & display successors just like predecessors are included! For our team is is important to see which task come before and which follow.
