Modern experience for Task lists
Half our lists are not normal lists but task lists. Often both normal lists and task lists are combined in themed processes with lookups.
It would be really great if the task lists can also switch to the modern experience. It is getting really annoying now to have a mixture of classic and modern experience within the same site/for a single process. Specially for the end user there is need in consistency. Also to introduce the modern experience properly it is much better when a total site can be changed at once and not only a few apps.

This really needs to be fixed because it is an incredibly poor user experience.

More serious is the issue of being able to switch to Modern Experience and break the ability to see the Task Name.
At the moment you have to compromise between using Classic view with loads of custom JavaScript for formatting, of being able to use the new JSON formatting, but having incompatible columns! I submitted a ticket to MS and the response (from the very helpful Support person), was that MS are aware of the issues, but it's not on their roadmap.... Urge anyone visiting this page to hit the vote button, so we can hopefully get some movement! -

Also need this. Looking at turning our SharePoint into a ticketing system which heavily relies on being able to utilise the Tasks Lists feature.

If you have the Task list switched to Modern list experience and click on an item, then instead of opening the item, a download is initiated of an empty file named after the ID of the item (for example: 1_.000). This makes it impossible to modify the item, using the modern experience. All these issues are still there for such a long time now which make user experience in SPO Online really difficult. People would like to use the modern experience as much as possible but it is impossible to do so since the modern experience as still some many problems. Is Microsoft working on solving this?

How can it be that I'm able to switch task lists to modern experience if I'm not able to open tasks from it?
Custom columns are part of the core benefits and an important USP of SharePoint, please don't forget about this when you plan modern "design stuff"!

Hi all,
just curious... why not just create a custom list? Is your task list used in workflows? -

The task list is very useful and it's disappointing to not have an update for this issue. The Classic Mode is a little bit ugly...
I use the Task List app as my TODO list. Please Microsoft, do something !

What frustrates me most is you go to add an "app" thinking it is has been designed by Microsoft for the modern site that you chose and you can't use it because it is a "classic app" not a "modern app." Why not offer that in the description so we can "optimize" the site. The answer, of course, is that if they were to do that, they would only have a few web parts for us to use, plus, that would be too logical and make our lives easier and that isn't what the modern site is designed for.

It is vital to be able to use the modern pages to show task and issue tracking lists as webpart.
