Enable "mailto:" in Quick Links & Hero web parts

We added this capability to both quick links and hero web parts, via the “From a link” tab in the file picker. You can add mailto:.
We do not intend to support other linking formats at this time (e.g. file, ftp)

We just got our full telephony incl. external calls implemented in Teams and I wanted to check whether I can make a call from a SharePoint Online contact list containing telephone numbers.
Seems that this integration of Teams and SharePoint is not yet there or am I wrong?

More protocols needed. ftp://, file://, onenote:, App Store and others, limewire://...
Ok, just kidding about that last one.

We really do need to be able to have these nicely formatted mailto: links to create the best possible UX for pages. I can get around this restriction with a bitly/tinyurl truncation, but it seems silly to have to resort to parlor tricks like that. Thank you for investigating this!

would like to be able to add more types of links, such as softwarecenter: mailto: sip: tel: and others.

Please consider also adding in tel: sip: and some other standard app links at the same time please!

Also looking for the option to add mailto links on our Sharepoint Online site. Why MS haven't implemented this is really strange to me.....

No Feedback from Microsoft since 2017... shame!

I'm a little disappointed that this was raised almost two years ago, but hasn't been added. There are many times a link isn't a http version and this restriction is not good functionality at all. Please move this up the list to get added.

It is a little idiotic not to have this functionality...I suggest it be rectified ASAP.

PLEASE add this ASAP, it should be part of basic UI functionality

We, too, need this badly. We have a link that automatically opens an email to our Help Desk.

This seems to be a basic functionality that has been lost. My company is mid-migration from SP 2010 to SPO and really need this to make migration simpler for stakeholders.
