All classic web parts for Modern Team Sites
Prior to modern pages, we had many web parts to choose from in SharePoint (Content Search, Search Box, Search Results, Content Editor Web Part, etc.). Some of the modern web parts are cool, but the Content Search, Search Box, Search Results, Content Editor Web Part are HUGELY important and widely used. The search web parts mentioned tie in nicely to Custom Display Templates and allow us to bring back content from anywhere in the farm. The Content Editor Web Part is a staple...it allows us to link to a txt or html file to surface custom content in a web part.
Please make these web parts (possibly all classic web parts) available in Modern Team Sites and on Site Pages. Until these are added, the motivation to use Modern Team sites is quite low.

We struggle with this as well and have had a tough time trying to fulfill the needs of our customers with what is available.

Agreed, it would be great to have the same level of web part editing that we had with the classic version be incorporated into the Modern SPO.

When we migrate community sites from onprem to Modern SP online - the classic community web parts cannot be utilized on the Modern Pages. This is a showstopper and we need to get equivalent classic > Modern web parts for these existing webparts.

I really appreciate the look and feel of Modern sites especially the communications site. However what I don't like is having to explain to my colleagues and site users that I can only give them half the functionality and customisation they used to have in previous versions of SharePoint.
Every other modern CMS is highly customisable both in its appearance and functionality I don't understand how the SharePoint Server 2019 modern site experience has come to market with so much missing out of it?

It doesn't help that most all of the Microsoft documentation to this day shows how to do things in the old admin center with classic sites while forcing everyone down an undocumented modern path. For new users like us, it is beyond confusing and a pain to understand how to do simple things.

I totally support this, we are being forced down the Modern path without being given the useful tools (think classic webparts) to allow us to share distributed information from across our sites. We regularly use timelines on a dashboard style Team page which we currently have to create in classic to accommodate the timeline requirements however at the same time we lose the newer functionality.
If you are going to replace a product (and then tell us it's being phased out (See - MC177122- SharePoint tenant opt-out for modern lists is retiring in 2019) you could at least provide us with the tools we use, need and are familiar with - alternatively give us newer tools that do the same thing

roll-up and display seems like something that should have been done at the beginning of modern pages. (search query web part). This is a fundamental piece of intranets that's missing in modern.

I agree with this. I have made several requests for classic web parts to be brought back or the functionality adapted to work in Modern pages. Things such as, being able to show a view of a list (used to be done with the content query web part) and having a search box that allows searches across site collections, being able to include pictures in text AND being able to adjust html (like the classic content editor web part). Being able to target web parts for different permission groups. All of this is so important to being able to switch over to the new Moder UI. I too am stuck with several SharePoint sites still using the classic display because the new UI doesn't (yet) have the capability. I really like the new pages. They are responsive and look good and would really much rather switch over to the new UI. I am looking forward to improvements coming from the Microsoft SharePoint Development Team.

I have been forced to create link lists because of the inability to use lists/libraries from parent sites on subsites; however it's impossible now to add a links list to a modern page. I'm stuck with using classic team site because the modern pages are too restrictive to add content to. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

We also need to be able to copy html from other sources, such as tables, and retain all the properties, such as column widths.

Rich text isn't just about attractive formatting, it is also about effective communication. Formats give the text additional dimensions.
