Column width resizng should be more discoverable
Column width resizng in modern doc lib should be made more discoverable. Today you can resize by hovering the cursor between column headings and drag the divider. however the divider is not visible at all unless you hover over. would be great to make it light grey or something.

The main issue I'm having is that half the time when I hover over the column width doesn't even appear! I went to resize the column then hover over again and can't resize it again. It's rediculous, just need a simple way of being able to set the exact column width so I can create consistent looking tables and not having to drag columns all the time which sometimes do or don't work!

Column width should be something site owner can set as default for all users. Most users will not notice they can drag the width of the column. Thank you.

Definitely strongly needed ...
Silly that tailoring the UExperience with such basic thing as column width seems archaic. -

Two big problems with this:
1: Manually set column widths are not persistent across VDI sessions, and most of my users are on VDI.
2: Individualy users should not have to set their own column widhts manually; I should be able to specify this as the site collection admin. Most of my users aren't even aware that this can be done, as the drag bar is completely invisible. -

I'd also like more info on how to set the custom column content widths as Bernard noted in his post below.

Is there any updated news on this issue?

just saw this: Custom column content widths can be saved for each user. Each user will be able to set a custom width for each column in a view, and have those settings persist for multiple sessions. Columns widths are now also stored as part of the view property – users can persist their column widths permanently by saving a view with the column customizations.

All of a sudden we can't manually adjust width column any more?

The change needs to be persistent. Currently I have to adjust the column width every time I access SP.

I googled how to do this and found this post.

The concern is more about resizing it permanently as opposed to resizing it every time you visit that List.
