Anchor Links or Collapsing Sections
It would be helpful to have sections that collapse, tabs, or anchor links for pages that contain lots of information. Word allows you to create bookmarks, and OneNote allows you to create tabs to easily navigate lots of information on a given topic. It would be great if you had the same flexibility with a page in SharePoint

We’ve shipped anchors on pages for all text web part headings (H1, H2, H3). Simply hover over a heading on a modern page and you’ll see the link symbol to that anchor. Clicking on the link adds it to the end of your page URL #as-an-anchor-using-the-text-from-the-heading.

Also, to Rick DeFoe's point, I'm assuming that it will be a standard URL anchor link format, correct? Meaning that if we can link to an anchor from within a page, we can link to that anchor from anywhere else, whether from inside SharePoint/Office365 or outside (say, for shortcut links on external sites, which would of course require authentication, but would then pass through to the proper specific destination), correct?

Glad to hear this is in progress and the basic link-to-header style is a fine first step, but really want the option to link at least to any web part, if not to any location at all.
- For web parts, each type should have a simple text entry 'anchor' option attached to it.
- Within web parts, there should be a new button on the editor for creating anchors.

Having anchor tags and accordions would help with navigation for pages with lots of content. Both are basic features in other CMS apps.

When I add #scrolltothis as hyperlink to a title or place on the page, then take the hover over hyperlink to the TOC section, it renders the page blank and causes an error. I'd love to know what browser Chris uses to make this work for him

Add anchor tag functionality to pages, especially since the interface makes everything large, creating longer pages.

Agree with Petr, there is no link appearing after hovering over the header. I can get the link in edit mode however this is not what I want.
Chris, can you please check your instruction and advise? -

YES YOU CAN DO IT!
1. Make sure you're NOT in edit mode.
2. Find the section you want to anchor-link to, and hover over the HEADER text (this only works if it's h1, h2, etc)
3. A "link" symbol will appear! It looks like two links of a chain.
4. Slide your mouse over so it's on top of the symbol. Your cursor will change to a pointer.
5. Click the link.
6. Look at the URL bar in your browser. Copy THAT LINK!
7. Go into edit mode. Edit the "table of content" text that you want to link to your anchor.Voila! You made an anchor link.
This goes smoothest if you have one window/tab in view mode to obtain anchor links, and another window/tab in edit mode to add them.
