Provide option to convert existing site to communication site
For customers who are trying to completely modernize their large SharePoint implementations, it should be possible to convert an existing site collection to use the communication site template.
It can simply be a powershell command that applies all the features/etc. it needs.
It doesn't need to change existing content, just apply the styles and create the typical landing page for a communication site.
It'll make it easier to adopt upcoming features (like adding sites to hubs, etc.)
Has anyone seen this go live yet?

The powershell cmd suggested as the solution really dont solve the issue at all
"This cmdlet can only be run on the root site of a tenant"
We need to be able to convert ANY site to a communication site since translations and other key features only is enabled on them

This would be really helpful. We have been causing more problems than we have solved trying to use third party tools to copy sites and rename URLs which give us redirections we don't want.
This is listed on Roadmap as Q1 2020, I think this is probably going to be a little later however.
Please make this work also for a root classic teamsite with publishing feature enabled.

please give a way to convert publishing pages to Modern Pages in SP Online.
Microsoft, please give us the ability to do this.
We need this
I need this. We have so many Classic sites and our users really want/need Communication sites. But I have to convert them to Modern Team sites as the only way to get them using Modern features. They don't want need an O365 Group and all the services it comes with. They just need that beautiful Communication site home page and capabilities as a standalone SP site.
This needs to be done, asap. MS are you sleeping?
