Configure e-mail alerts for site news
On our old WSS intranet system, most sites that published news used the Announcements app, which would allow users to configure e-mail alerts whenever new announcements were added. We've moved people towards using modern site news instead, since this seems to be Microsoft's modern approach to publishing news, however the lack of ability to configure e-mail alerts on site news is baffling and causing a lot of delays in people being aware that site news has been posted. I know Microsoft is pushing people to use the SharePoint homepage or mobile apps to receive these site news notifications, but the reality is a lot of users are more comfortable getting these alerts via their e-mail, and are frustrated that this functionality is no longer available!

Great idea! This is something which I also see as necessary for my organization. A possibility to subscribe to newsletters in a traditional matter and receiving an e-mail when something new is posted.
