Default modern lists & library views to "Compact List"
The adages of "Compact List" is great, but it cannot be set as the default view. Add the ability to set "Compact List" as the default view for all modern lists and libraries. Moreover display within web parts as well.

Using the Enhanced Rich Text field is a must for entering data for a report. Exporting that information to view as PDF is impossible to do without seeing the HTML code. Tried to export to Excel, Power BI. Put the lists in a modern page thinking I could just print the page but the list items are collapsed by default. Even applied JSON to the item but it changes it to plain text, again showing the HTML coding. I admit there are advantages but this should be a feature that we easily change.

Absolutely a must have. But I noticed it is easy. Set the list/library to compact view, save view as.... just overwrite. That's it I guess. Worked for me.

I'm getting asked for this as well from people wanting this to be the default view. Much nicer experience!

Hard to believe we even need to "Vote" on this...such a common sense feature. The excessive white space forced on site developers is frustrating.

Any idea on whether this feature is yet available by default?

When dealing with libraries with over 600 folders you'd want the compact view to be default. This is a small step that could greatly improve the user experience. Strong vote for this idea.

We'd also like to have this feature.

We'd also like this, please!

Yes, please. Most of my users won't be bothered to change the views so the ability to set this as default is important for usability.

Another strong vote for this. And for speeding up the rendering. We just moved some on-prem shares to SharePoint. We have couple folders with a few hundred folders in them and the load and scroll time is threatening a mutiny among the users.

Seconded. There's too much white space and compact list is a far better default.
At least provide a tenant wide/powershell option to set.
