Make an easier way to navigate up when you are in a sub-folder within a document library.
The 'Navigate Up' button on the library ribbon tab is too hidden for users and it also requires an extra click every time you need to go up. The breadcrumb also requires an extra click because you have to click the 'Browse' tab in the ribbon to see it every time.

Take a look at the new modern document library experience!

The "Navigate up" icon found in the top left corner of SharePoint 2010 web pages was/is awesome. Please bring something like that back for the end-user's sake. Users have become very disoriented when moving from SharePoint 2010 to 2013 (that's our experience). Too many lines were removed and navigation become more difficult, not easier.

Please also take into consideration navigation when making administrative changes to a list or library. I have made a similar request about not being able to see which site/list/library/document is being modified when making permission changes. Thanks.

If the breadcrumb is too difficult I could go for an ellipsis at the top of the list that would allow an up functionality

@KTTN
1) its configurable, so what? Some clients do not use folders to navigate any more
2) No you don't, folder is already selected
3) I agree to a point that its not "nice" however their is a large component of this which is your mess. So change your masterpage if you do not accommodate it. Hire someone who knows how to design websites for SharePoint and modify the masterpage. -

The Metadata navigation is far from being the perfect solution because: 1) The site feature 'Metadata Navigation and Filtering' is not activated by default. 2) To activate the Metadata navigation in a library, you have to artificially add 'Content Type' as a hierarchy field. 3) The metadata navigation is located under the Quick Launch menu, this might be bad if the menu is long.

Common guys the functionality ALREADY EXISTS!
It's called metadata navigation, just add folders to the bloody filter and you get a tree just like explorer.

Definitely agree with this idea.

Portal site connection/breadcrumb link hidden in SP2013 is something we need back!

Please restore the breadcrumbs everywhere!
It would also be really helpful to make them optionally displayed in list view web parts so that users can navigate folders in a document library list view as well.

I would like to see this suggestion applied to navigating up from subsites as well.
