Drag and drop email from outlook
Even with site mailboxes, there is still a need to store a email file (such as an MSG from outlook) in a document library. This is useful when you are doing records management, have a document set, and need to save an email with other document records.

Thanks for your feedback! Although we appreciate your time and effort to give us this feedback, it’s not something we’re planning to do right now.

We created an Outlook add-in that let you drag emails and attachments right in to Sharepoint , OneDrive and more platforms, even with Chrome, Firefox and IE. A free trial is available: www.dragdrop.com

I must add our sentiments with the others below. We must save emails for archival purposes. It is very disconcerting that this functionality has not been included. Seems like a "no-brainer" to all of us Users.

Indeed this is functionality that should exist, why does Microsoft make this decision. Would be great if they could reconsider.
How can we get their focus back on this topic?

And we agree that this is MS to MS??
We are using Sharepoint in our company with 9000+ users.
Everybody is sitting and saving mails/files on the desktop and adding file in sharepoint and then erasing the files on the desktop....sooo last christmas and deeply annoying. -

I don't understand why this was declined. I have to add attachments to SharePoint almost every day and the only way I can currently do this is to drag it to a file share first.

Why was this declined? Microsoft is hurting my efforts for user adoption of SharePoint Libraries. SharePoint and the Office apps have gone so far in functionality but it is amazing this is not working as it should be a basic.

Absolutely disgraceful decision and handling by Microsoft. I can only assume this is an internal political issue and that Microsoft are hell bent on forcing the world to use OneDrive instead of SharePoint for, lol..... Content Management!
Saving a Corporate email and/or associated attachments directly from Outlook to Corporate SharePoint sites and libraries as easily and integrated as possible should be high on Microsoft's list of priorities NOT ONEDRIVE!!!!!

Is there a reason to why this wont be implemented?

Organisations have a valid need for this functionality. Moving emails from Outlook to SharePoint using out-of-the-box capabilities is too cumbersome. This will not change with the arrival of SharePoint 2016.
There are dozens of 3rd party tools (e.g. Colligo, RepStor, ...) that provide Outlook Add-ins. Recently a 100% browser-based solution has emerged. If you are need of a simple solution to drag and drop emails from Outlook to SharePoint, extract email metadata such as To, From, ... and preview msg files (plus attachments) in SharePoint without opening Outlook check out SLIM Companion. The tool does not require any changes to SharePoint or the user's computer. Wow I am flabbergasted that despite a large number of votes to add this capability it is being declined!?? Are you actually listening to what your customers want? With email being one of the most used forms of communication in business, I really cannot believe you are not going to provide this much needed and asked for functionality.
Very poor show Microsoft..........

[In response to Microsoft declining this feature]
I must say this is a little brusque and non-informative. Two sentences one of which is a salutation does very little to explain why this was rejected. As Craig says if this is the only feedback we get what is the point in our going through this exercise.
Could you explain any more about why this isn't going forward? And how do we keep it on your radar so if you don't think you will do it right now, we can get it on a later list?

Seriously Microsoft? One of the most requested features on uservoice. One of the most requested features (or complaints) in various forums, Yammer Groups, etc.
Probably the biggest gripe, we as a firm, have repeated put through our MS Account managers, ever since we started looking at SharePoint back in 2006.You claim to be listening, and yet you're still ignoring us (the community).
Forcing us to use 3rd Party products, which involve add-ins to Outlook, which are the leading cause of Outlook instability (not to mention finger pointing between vendors).
While this feature might not dent the over-all licensing of SharePoint, it's certainly a rather large nail in the coffin of SharePoint for Document Management.
</rant>BTW Kudos to Colligo and their ilk for filling a gap, but please, get yourself bought by MS, so there's a deepness of integration that you'll never have as 3rd party solutions...

We would also really appreciate the addition of the ability to drag and drop from Outlook into SharePoint.

It'll be great if we can drag/drop email from outlook to sharepoint library directly.

It would be very important to be able to drag'n'drop attachments from email to Sharepointi library. In most cases files get stored to local machines since it is unwanted additional step to drag those again to Sharepoint.

We have just started using SharePoint and the biggest complaint we are getting from users is the fact that you cannot drag and drop email attachments straight into SharePoint. This is an absolute must requirement. You can drag and drop attachments to desktop or folders so why not to SharePoint? Users see this as having to do extra steps to first drag the document to their desktop and then from there to SharePoint. Very unhappy users.

I know it is a license more, but Harmon.ie does this very elegantly.
