Bring back or replace the slide library
Thanks for the feedback – we appreciate the time and interest! Unfortunately, this feature was deprecated due to design limitations in the last release and it’s not currently and area we’re looking to invest in right now. That said, you can still mimic much of the functionality provided by slide libraries through reusing slides from another presentation without having to open the other file. Check out this support article for more details: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Reuse-import-slides-from-another-presentation-c67671cd-386b-45dd-a1b4-1e656458bb86

any further thoughts on bringing this back? i agree whole-heartedly with the commenters below. the workaround is completely inadequate.
Terrible "solution" to an extremely useful feature
I have set-up a reporting landscape for the whole Airbus A350XWB aircraft development program. More than 5,500 well organized slides for about 1,000 users in only 10 slide libraries. This is one of the most powerfull functionalities of SharePoint as every larger company has the same issue with PowerPoint base reporting. The solution with the reuse of slides is crap, as you are not able to find a slide by meta-tags as you have to scroll through a whole presantation. If some then deletes the slide and replaces it by one with the same content -> chaos, as the internal slide Id gets lost and you cannot update the slide anymore. I would be more than happy to show managers at microsoft on great this feature is.
That's stupid and time consuming. BRING BACK The library function.
