Add Original Document Create Date to document library when uploading documents
When uploading documents into a document library SharePoint enters today's date as a create date for the document even thought that document could have been created 4 years ago. This gets confusing when trying to implement retention policies. A library might have hundreds of documents that have the same date, even though those documents were moved to SharePoint from a shared drive on the network. :(
Suggestion to fix:
Have an option for the user to user the original document create date when uploading a document as a checkbox. And an option to replace it with today's date which is the upload date.
Have another field called Upload Date that captures the date the document was uploaded into the document library.
When a document is uploaded, capture that even and query the document properties, then get the documents create date and put into the Created date field in SharePoint.
Atleast please provide an action in power automate to retrieve these properties.
Agree. The date that the file was moved to a particular folder is far less likely to be of any value than the date that the file was truly created. I am truly disappointed in the lack of planning that seems to have gone into this product. This just feels like a complete disrespect to the customer.

Original document creation dates are crucial for eDiscovery and litigation as well as Records Management.

How can this be missing from SharePoint? The creation or last modified date is one the most important properties of a document.
Yes distinguish date of document and date of item https://sharepoint.uservoice.com/forums/282887-customer-feedback-for-sharepoint-server/suggestions/7693932-display-the-date-time-when-the-file-content-was-la
