read EXIF during import to picture library
When importing Jpeg pictures to a picture library, the system should automatically parse the EXIF header and publish the data to existing columns. It seems that the on-premise SharePoint was able to do so (using special column naming like e.g. "wicSystemGPS_Date", but this seems to be gone for SharePoint online.

Default notification for lists and library's hitting the 5000 items limit
At the moment there is no option to send a notification to an Office 365 Admin when a list or library is reaching the limit of 5000 items, it would be good if an out of the box option could be implemented to send this notification. e.g., a check-box option with an email field and the number of items to alert when reached, this would be great if it could be implemented across all site collections, so an Admin could set this up once and not worry about time consuming tasks of having to set up alerts or workflows to…

Easy way to unlock documents
Would it be possible or feasible to place an item in the menu or a button on the main ribbon to unlock a document? I have a document that is locked for offline viewing and I cannot make any changes to this document.
What make this frustrating is that I am being told by Office 365 that I am editing this document offline. I have restarted my one drive, my computer and all of my open documents on my laptop. I don't understand why this continues to happen but, it would be nice to have a simple fix.
Bottom line,…

Default modern lists & library views to "Compact List"
The adages of "Compact List" is great, but it cannot be set as the default view. Add the ability to set "Compact List" as the default view for all modern lists and libraries. Moreover display within web parts as well.

Merge Folders and Subfolders
Please allow merging of folders within sharepoint. Have folders that occasionally get duplicated from user computers and I can't merge the contents back together in the web interface as is possible within the Windows File Explorer view dealing with locally sync'd copies.

Modern Document Sets Moving and Copying
Now that the Modern document set is released we need the ability to move and copy these to other libraries and or collections. Document sets are an ECM function and used mostly for solution building and not having the ability to move them for archiving purposes makes them an unfinished solution.

Column width resizng should be more discoverable
Column width resizng in modern doc lib should be made more discoverable. Today you can resize by hovering the cursor between column headings and drag the divider. however the divider is not visible at all unless you hover over. would be great to make it light grey or something.

Drag and drop folders in browser for SharePoint 2016
Our state organization has upgraded SharePoint from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2016. This upgrade has resulted in a functionality loss of being able to drag and drop folders to libraries in browser. We are requesting that Microsoft restore the drag drop folder functionality in SharePoint 2016 that was lost. This loss has had an adverse impact to our business users.

Email Enabled Libraries
Email enabled list for SharePoint Online, this was a great feature for direct interaction with sharepoint via mail, although site mail box is a similar concept, would love to see email enabled lists in 0365.

Add Original Document Create Date to document library when uploading documents
When uploading documents into a document library SharePoint enters today's date as a create date for the document even thought that document could have been created 4 years ago. This gets confusing when trying to implement retention policies. A library might have hundreds of documents that have the same date, even though those documents were moved to SharePoint from a shared drive on the network. :(
Suggestion to fix:
Have an option for the user to user the original document create date when uploading a document as a checkbox. And an option to replace it with today's date which is…74 votes -
Why can't you simply cut and paste files from one folder to another in sharepoint??? It's ridiculous that you can't do this.
It's simply. Include a way of cut and pasting files from one sharepoint folder to another

Ability to apply "Protect Document" (read-only recommended) on a folder or library
Our organization appreciates the modern option under File | Info | Protect Document to set files to "read-only recommended" instead of modifying permissions. It allow for files to still be easily collaborated on while preventing accidental changes. Brilliant!
We are finding an increasing amount of scenarios where all files stored in a specific folder or library would benefit from the option to mass-apply this setting. Essentially, providing the flexibility to put a gate on reference files that should stay static unless edits are necessary.

explorer metadata
The new OneDrive Sharepoint experience changes the way synchronization works for Sharepoint, improving it on several levels.
Working with synced libraries is still a subpar experience because Windows is still unaware of many functionalities of Sharepoint:
Metadata columns - they can't be seen or used as search terms. If a custom metadata column is "required" instead of "optional", synced share becomes read-only. Firstly, Metadata columns should sync and viewable in explorer. They should also be editable (if the user has permissions).
Views - The default views from Sharepoint should also sync to Explorer and the user should be able to…

durable links
Durable links should be valid even after any action like rename doc/rename lib/move across webs/move across site collections....and so on.
There was a lot of promises but now Durable links are not better then Document ID. They are worse.Make it useful not useless. Lets make documents durable links really durable. I don't care how the technology is called. Me and our customers really need solid technology that is available already on different platforms. Why you don't you use search to be used if document is moved across site collection? Why only Microsoft documents reflect Durable links? Why there is…

Copy - Move files : allow Site search
The copy or move function in modern document libraries is not usable if there are many site collections or libraries. we should have a search allowing us to select quickly a site (such as the Sharepoint Search returning sites) and a Library

Enable Download Alerts in SharePoint & OneDrive for Business
Would be great to get notification alerts when a file or files are downloaded from SharePoint or OneDrive for Business. Alerts work well for uploading or adding a file or files, deleting a file or folder etc. I understand it may be able to happen via PowerShell?.. but not sure. Have opened ticket for same and will follow up.
Download notifications for all... all for one and one for all !

New Experience - Drag & Drop into meta-data grouping from desktop
I have a document library with meta-data associated and they appear in a grouped by view. This meta-data field is mandatory.
Currently when i drag & drop from the desktop, it creates the list item without associating the meta-data. I must then perform another action to tag the content & check the file in. Very annoying & time consuming.
It would be great if i could drag & drop directly to the grouping of existing content and SharePoint would automaticaly set the values for this new item based on where i'm drag & dropping.
This would save users a great…
