  1. Enable "tel:" and "mailto:" links in editor

When creating links using the Wysiwig editor we should have the ability to add "tel:" links and "mailto:" links.

  2. Month view for calendar on the page

We would like the calendar display apps (events and group calendar) to allow a "month" view. We love the events parts and like that they link to a group calendar but would love to visualize this in a month or week format

  3. All classic web parts for Modern Team Sites

Prior to modern pages, we had many web parts to choose from in SharePoint (Content Search, Search Box, Search Results, Content Editor Web Part, etc.). Some of the modern web parts are cool, but the Content Search, Search Box, Search Results, Content Editor Web Part are HUGELY important and widely used. The search web parts mentioned tie in nicely to Custom Display Templates and allow us to bring back content from anywhere in the farm. The Content Editor Web Part is a staple...it allows us to link to a txt or html file to surface custom content in a web…

  4. Improve SharePoint Document Metadata Entry

Changes which were implemented by Microsoft in Office 2016 and SharePoint Online, as well as list view thresholds make entering SharePoint metadata on documents prohibitive.

    Office 2016 Desktop Applications:

One significant change in Office 2016 was the removal of the document information panel (DIP). When the DIP displayed in Office applications (pre-2016), it was obvious even to the most casual SharePoint users that there were document properties which should be assigned values, as well as how to enter these values. By contrast, with the DIP removed in 2016:

    1. It is not obvious to the casual user that there are…

  5. Branding sharing email invitation

It would be great to do some branding on the sharing invitation e-mail message. For example replacing the Office 365 logo with your company logo and changing the color scheme.

  6. Integrate a full breadcrumb in the Suite bar to facilitate navigation in deep collections

In the top left (in the suite bar), integrate a breadcrumb (like in SharePoint 2010 with the hierarchical folder?) in order to facilitate the navigation in site collections.
Users are sometime lost when they are browsing a document library and when the ribbon is displayed in the header, they have difficulties to find that they must click the "BROWSE" tab to go back to the navigation.

  7. Ability to use <frame>, <iframe>, <object>, <embed> on non .sharepoint.com websites to embed content from .sharepoint.com

Currently SharePoint returns https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Headers/X-Frame-Options header when trying to embed (with <frame>, <iframe>, <object>, <embed>) documents from external websites. The header is set to "sameorigin" that simply means only pages hosted on .sharepoint.com domain can do that.

    So let's see below example:
    1. Company XYZ has an internal domain: xyz.com. Company is using SharePoint and stores documents e.g.: pdf's there.
    2. Company XYZ has an internal technical portal: portal.xzy.com and want's to s embed documents from SharePoint.
    3. Because of X-Frame-Options returned along for any pdf/doc/xls etc document #2 is impossible as web browsers will not allow to do this kind…

  8. Change default setting for access requests from "Edit" to "Read"

Since there is no existing way to control the default settings for user access requests, and since the default is currently set to 'Edit,' this creates a situation in which a user who may have never accessed Sharepoint before and simply wants to read a news article must instead be granted editing rights--creating a scenario in which many inexperienced users who are only looking to read or download content have to be given the power to create serious, unintentional damage to a page by being granted editing rights. A much more prudent approach would be to set the default permission…

  9. Modern Content Editor Web Part

It would be nice to have the option to place a web part on a modern page and add HTML to it. We don't always want to jump to SPFx for something simple. It would help add some flexibility to the modern pages.

  11. Add a feature to enable site level metadata and default values

A challenge to adoption and use of metadata is getting users to fill in values consistently. There are many scenarios that would benefit from being able to define a value for metadata at the site level and have that automatically push down to all documents/items in that site Examples for the type of metadata that could be set centrally are project name, IDs from ERP systems, commercial sensitivity etc - all of those would be good to filter in search refiners. Content types could deal with this, but use of content types has its own limitations which currently require custom…

  12. New Event Web Part should support recurring events

The new event web part in SPO should support recurring events for Birthdays etc. We use it to keep track of birthdays in our office, but the new web-part does not support recurring events.

  13. Comment Alerts

SharePoint site news articles are great with the embedded comments section. I would ask and recommend that there be some sort of notifier/alert to the original comment poster when someone else responds to it. This would help keep conversations going forward. It's rather hard to find your original comments when there are many comment posts.

  14. Define section background color in the modern pages

Please let us define a custom background color for a Section on the page.

It would allow us to give more "rhythm" to the page content and highlight some content on the page.

For example the https://dev.office.com/ site uses a light blue "section background color" to separate the "getting started"-links from rest of the content.

  15. Left menu/submenu expand and/or collapse default behavior setting

In modern view sites, the current left menu/submenu default behavior for submenu items is set to collapsed (this was changed from expanded about a year ago). There should be a way to select the default left menu/submenu expansion and contraction behavior either at the menu level, or at the very least at the site level. The current behavior of collapsed hides much of the functional items available on the site, that is, unless users have expanded the left menu enough to where they have committed the menu structure to memory - a tiresome exercise.

  16. SharePoint 2013 workflow email to distribution list

I found out after contacting Microsoft Support that you are not able to use the "Send Email" action in SharePoint 2013 Designer to send the email to a distribution list (group type of distribution or security). In order to send an email in a SharePoint workflow to a distribution list (allmanagers@company.com), you have to use a SharePoint 2010 workflow.

I was informed that SharePoint 2013 workflows can only send emails to organization users.

Please allow the ability to send to a distribution list within the GAL/org. This is a very common request so changes in recipients do not…

  17. Bring back SharePoint Online Image Metadata Extraction

Back in September, we have used below columns to extract picture/image metadata w.r.t location in SharePoint Online:

    wic_System_GPS_Latitude
    wic_System_GPS_Longitude

It worked brilliantly. But unfortunately the functionality doesn't seem to work anymore.

Other metadata such as date taken has also been removed. This is causing extreme headache for customers who relied on this data.

    PLEASE BRING THIS BACK!!!

  18. Enable/Disable comments on the whole site

You added a comment area in the new experience pages, then added a on/off button. But i can not disable comments in one time, on all pages ! i need to do it, one per one. please, add a global option, in the site level, to enable or disable this feature on the current site.

  19. Add Article Tagging to the Modern News Feature

It would be great to tag News posts/articles by category (e.g., training, motivational, announcement, etc.). Users could then refine by category to see all articles under that tag.

On the classic sharepoint there is a search box that is very helpful. Please add that to the new look.
