  1. Add support for library packages in the SharePoint Framework

When building web parts I'd like to be able to extract common code to a separate library that can be shared amongst the different web parts.

Thanks for your feedback! Just a note to let you know that this is absolutely in our roadmap and we are planning to address this request in future. Good to have though also the vote counts, so that we understand the demand around the request, which helps on prioritizing our internal work.

    • Warn when using preview SharePoint Framework features

The latest version of the SharePoint Framework Yeoman generator contains a mix of features that are GA and preview features (for example connecting to MS Graph, web part connections, extensions). Whether the generated solution can be run in production depends on the features used to build the web part. With that, when bundling the project, the toolchain should warn of any experimental features being used in the project which would prevent the solution from being deployed to production tenants. This would help developers avoid deploying solutions depending on experimental features to production tenants, only to see the deployment fail.

        • Allow SharePoint Sites created via O365 Groups to be managed in SharePoint Admin Center

Each Office365 Group creates a new SharePoint Site, this is not currently shown in the Sharepoint Admin Center so it is not possible to manage specific sharing rules, storage and compute quotas and other advanced settings. Such sites should appear in the Site Collection lists to be manageable.

          • Extensions: Support Development in Local Workbench

Today, application extensions in SPFx (command sets, application customizers & field customizers) can't be tested within either the local or SharePoint Online hosted workbench. This is a bummer and a big step backwards to such a cool aspect to the development story with SPFx.

I get that you need a list to work with, but at a minimum, the workbench could have a static list with static data and no other functionality for us to test the customizations on.

My wish is that Microsoft adds support to the workbench for extensions before GA.

            • Add support for Single Page Applications to the SharePoint Framework

Angular2 provides an excellent user experience, especially when tied to Bootstrap (v3 or v4) suitable for creating immersive experiences where the whole of the SharePoint chrome is replaced (other than the top bar).

However integrating it with the SharePoint REST API framework is cumbersome and unless extensive work is undertaken to mock SharePoint the unit testing and rapid deployment is very unpleasant if possible at all.

The SharePoint framework provides a rapid deployment and unit testable mechanism for developing SharePoint functionality but is limited to single web parts.

Please extend the model so that it can be used to create…

              • Extensions: Application Customizer - Loading JS Files in <HEAD> Tags

The current architecture of the SPFx Extensions allow for us to populate "Placeholders", such as PageHead and PageFooter with content.

If we need to load JS files though, be them stored within SP or externally, we would need to add external references into the <HEAD> tag of the page.

We can use the current placeholders to dynamically update the <HEAD> tag, but this seems less then optimal.

Classic UCA's allowed for multiple JS references, as well as the sequence in which they were loaded. (Ex: Load jQuery prior to loading a Utility JS file that is dependent on jQuery.)

                Replicating…

                • onDelete Method for SPFx web part

Provide an onDelete() method that occurs when a web part is deleted from a page. This will allow for the web part to remove any files related to the instance being deleted.

Thanks for your feedback! We like your suggestion and it’s being added to our backlog. We don’t have yet specific schedule for this, but item has been added to upcoming plans for the SPFx and since request does make sense and has been requested from other sources as well, this will be most likely implemented.

                  • Enable saving sites that contain SPFx web parts as templates

Creating site templates that include preconfigured web parts on the landing page is a common requirement. We can add and configure classic OOB web parts on a landing page and save the site as a template, and we can do script injection customisations and save the site as a template. However, if a site includes an SPFx web part, we get the error message:

"Sorry, this site can't be saved as a template. It contains apps that don't work in templates"

This is currently a blocker in an area where a SharePoint Framework approach would otherwise be ideal.

                    • Allow for admins to specify CDN location when installing SPFx App package

I'd like to have the option for an admin to 1) load upp the script and other resources in a customer owned or managed CDN location and 2) allow the admin to specify that location when adding the .sppkg file into the app catalog.
This would allow for more flexible usage of SPFx applications and also allow enterprises to have better governance of the script resources - which would increase the adoption of SPFx and also allow ISV's to create more solutions.

                      • Ability to run development and production versions of the SP Fx web parts in two different site collections

Currently, the SharePoint Framework solutions are deployed as tenant wide app packages. Thereby, all instances of the web parts refer the JavaScript files from the CDN location specified in the packaged that is deployed in the app catalog. We need the ability to run Development, Staging and Production environments as different Site Collections in the same tenant.

                        • Open Source or at least Source Open the Yeoman Generator

Plain and simple, I was hoping to see the source of the generator get released. The main reason is to see how things are done and how we can possibly improve on your process.

I'm fine if you don't want to go full open source in the sense where you take PR contributions from the community (although I don't understand that reason), but at the very least you should do what's considered **source open** where you share the source code but don't accept PR's & contributions.

                          • Access to re-use modern field render controls

Modern lists/libraries have controls to render all fields in a modern view - specifically the hard ones like people picker and taxonomy picker.

Exposing these as re-usable modules in a SPFx web part via for example react would be very useful. I'd be happy just having the field renderer, and I can deal with labels etc myself.

Congrat to introduce the availability to connect graph ressources more easily (without ADAL).
GraphHttpClient is currently limited to Groups (not members) et report. It will be very usefull to extend to all graph ressources. Developper could build amazing dashboard with multi origin information.

                              • Finish the SharePoint Framework documentation

Trying to learn a new framework is hard enough when the documentation is complete. Sadly the SharePoint Framework Reference at https://dev.office.com/sharepoint/reference/spfx/ is not even close to anything that could be considered thorough. Much of it consists of a bare minimum that describes what an item is but not how or why you would want to use it. Some items are described with the name of the item itself, a circular reference that informs no one of anything. Many items have no description in the description column for the item. And far too many links land on pages that only say…

                                • Add Full Page App Component Type

It's been brought up multiple times in different places, but I'm not sure if this is the same issue as other SPA-like suggestions linked to at the end of this submission. I think this would give us the ability to deploy a SPA so IMHO this could be merged with all of them.

I'd like to have a new component option for SPFx projects: full page app. I want to define 100% of what goes into the canvas, blocking the user from making any configuration changes in edit mode. Ideally I'd like two types of pages to write to: one…

                                  • Open sourcing the SharePoint Framework on GitHub

Consider the success around the Office365 PnP project and the Office UI Fabric, it would be great to have this framework open sourced as well.

Both PnP and Office UI Fabric absolutely show that the model works great and we are looking into doing this gradually after the SP Framework is released. There will be elements which are open source and some elements which will be source open. More on the exact plan will be communicated when we get closer to GA with client side web parts.

                                    • pageContext.web.description and pageContext.user.id

Web description and user id are both strangely missing from the page context. It would be great of they were available.

                                      • Field Customizer Evolution: Forms, Quick Edit Mode

Please, consider next enhancements to Field Customizer (and Modern List UI):
                                        1. implement modern Quick Edit mode
                                        2. Add "edit" mode to field customizer
                                        3. Make field customizers (both view and edit modes) applicable on forms, panels, quick edit mode, etc.

                                        • App catalog Trust prompt for external dependencies too in the SharePoint Framework

It would be great if all the referenced external dependencies (scripts) were listed in the trust prompt in the app catalog,
eventually the same for scripts dynamically loaded through the SPComponentLoader with the external scripts dynamically loaded should be declared.
This would prevent any way of code "injection" without the explicit consent of the app catalog administrator
