Updating existing projects to newer SPFx builds
When building an SPFx project on current version of SPFx build, it is very hard to upgrade this to the latest SPFx builds that are coming out after while still enjoying all the new features that are a part of that latest version.
This includes breaking changes that prevents the code from compiling, but also more importantly: added configuration options and features to the different config files that are a part of the project, or changes to the schema that adds a few more options that are a part of the new SPFx build.
These changes today have to be manually added by the developer, who has no idea they even exist, unless he reads through a long backlog of every version released between his current one to the latest one.
Compare this project with a product created using the latest build and you will see a lot of differences in these config/json files.
This CR requests the upgrade be provided with an upgrade tool or migration that will migrate an older project to the latest SPFx that will match all the new features and schemas of the latest build, just like a new project has.
