  1. access denied calling change site collections administrator

As a farm admin I receive an acces denied error when I select a site collection in Central Admin UI. I am using a SharePoint 2019 farm with lastest updates.

Please change the behavior in central admin or change the documentation at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/sites/change-site-collection-administrators.

The documentation was exact for 2016 but in 2019, at least my version, being a farm admin does not override the site permission.

At least, it works with PowerShell which leads me think that it is a GUI implementation error.

    Regards,
    Jean Marie

  3. Emailing SharePoint Stats From "Reports" Section (Subscription

Set up an email subscription to email a given user the SharePoint statistics from the Reports area in the Admin Center. It would be good to give clients this ability, as most IT staff report statistics to their company. (Client Requested)

  7. SharePoint DMS component, have it create a contact that also populates LegacyExchangeDN attribute

When incoming email is enabled and DMS is enabled and a list is then turned on to receive incoming mail; an AD contact is created and when using newer version of Exchange, DMS should add some data regarding the contact in the legacyExchangeDN attribute. This will help users using their offline address book without having to have the Exchange Admins run scripts to populate this data to find this newly created list.

  11. Add Support for PowerPivot and SSRS Integrated to SharePoint 2019

I'm trying to make the argument to migrate to SharePoint 2019 within my company. The company consists of over 50,000 internal employees and 25,000+ external users. Both PowerPivot and SSRS Integrated aren't being supported in a SharePoint 2019/SQL 2016 architecture. However, both are still supported in a SharePoint 2016/SQL 2016 architecture. Microsoft has already announced that SQL 2016 will be the last version to support both features. Microsoft, how about you also include support for both features as long as we use SQL 2016. :)

  12. As a SharePoint Administrator, I want MS to fix Event ID 1309 so that this event doesn't show up in the logs.

Every time a user open a Visio diagram in the browser the following error message is logged int he event logs:

Event message: An error occurred processing a web or script resource request. The requested resource 'fMicrosoft.Office.Visio.Server,15.0.0.0,,71e9bce111e9429c|Microsoft.Office.Visio.Server.WebControls15.Images.CloseButton.png' does not exist or there was a problem loading it.

  13. Provide ability to create HNSC via Central Admin

Please add the ability to create Host Named Site Collections (with full Content Database selection support) via Central Administration.

Without this ability the adoption of a single web app and HNSC will remain almost non existent within enterprise customers. The only way to do this in a manageable fashion is via the deployment of a custom site provisioning provider - which is a FTS!

  14. Add a "Show PowerShell" button to each wizard/dialog in SharePoint Central Admin.

In SharePoint Central Administration, it's common knowledge that nearly everything you can do has a PowerShell counterpart. Thus, each wizard / dialog in SharePoint ought to show the equivalent PowerShell command / technique, so the administrator could save some steps in the future. It is also a handy way to learn how to use the cmdlets.

I have seen this capability in other Microsoft products, such as SQL Server Management Studio and the Windows 2012 Server Manager. SP 2016 could definitely benefit from this as well.

  15. As a SharePoint Administrator, I want MS to fix Event ID 1357 so that the Full Search does not run infinitely.

Re-provisioning the Search Service Application is not a solution.

  16. SharePoint Management Shell/Central Administration Auditing

Currently, when an administrator performs an action in the Management Shell/Central Administration, most of the data regarding who and what action took place is not recorded. This makes auditing impossible when there are multiple administrators managing the farm. I would propose putting auditing controls in for the SharePoint Management Shell and Central Administration, to record who and what changes were made.

  17. Make the Default sent from SharePoint Emails (like Quota limit and Access request) fully configurable in Central Admin

This would allow (without hacking at the default files) to set branding on the Emails in a HTML based format to make the emails more meaningful to users.

Also the Quota limit email should be more meaningful and a developed solution I have seen was to disable the timer job that actually runs with a custom version and then send out a mail with a more visual representation of the Storage being used ( Simple bar showing total amount of storage allocated to the site with the amount used and how much was in the recycle bin.)

    Also I would…

  19. Sharepoint Monitoring( Database) from Central admin

I would like MSFT give us the ability to see the following things/ reports either from Central Admin or Powershell.

Content Database Size( free space, data space etc)
    Site collections in the Database
Site collections Size per database / per web app.
Disk space on the SQL Server
Manage the Permission on DB from SharePoint.

This will help administrators to managed the Content DB and plan the storage space effciently. in the orgnization where SP admin dont have access to SQL server, these reports really help.

  20. Easier ULS retrival for specified set of users set within CA

When SharePoint throws an error we get a correlation ID that can then be pulled from the ULS logs to provide the detailed information about the issue.

Instead of having to request this via the Farm Admins i would propose that with Central Admin there be a section that specifies which user groups can request the logs directly from the error page its self as a simple text file which can then be imported into ULS viewer on their machine or just opened in Notepad.

This would help reduce wait times on any dev work that needs to review all…
