  1. Adjust the SharePoint Srvr licensing model (& its requirements) to be compatible with making available an ISV product on SaaS business model

The current licensing model isn't friendly at all if you're thinking on making your SharePoint product available as a Cloud SaaS.

To go Cloud, this must needed change must occur so that the SharePoint (and its ecosystem required products) licensing model to fit well with SaaS business models without an obscene entry cost in licensing that crushes your initial investment as an ISV.

We have this product that we developed, and it requires SharePoint Server.

We’ve been considering for some time now the possibility of making our product also available as a SaaS.

However, as SharePoint Server is a requirement…

  2. Improve support service for SharePoint user

I have problem to install Sharepoint Designer. It should be a simple download and install procedurer. But I encountered problem. I contacted the support organization of Microsofts. They tried to solve the problem for 4 days without sucess. They could not solve the problem and they have no solution except telling me that it is most probably an issue of the operating system Windows. I asked if the support organization of SharePoint can transfer the issue to Windows support but they replayied that I must register a new case on Windows support. This is not customer friendly and the support…

  3. Improve content types and content type hub-functionality

    Content types:

Enable content type-based default values in addition to site column-based and location-based default values. Allow farm administrators to specify which takes priority in cases of conflict (and make them function reagardless of if the user creates a new document from the ribbon, uploads it or drag-and-drops it into the library)

Enable all and any sharepoint columns to be displayed, and when applicable edited, from within the document (not just in the ribbon). For example give us the option to automatically propagate your new unique farm-wide document ID-based url in the actual document content. would be fantastic for users…

  4. Upgrade V2V or B2B

Will like to smooth process and see less down time when upgrade from 2013 to 2016 or installing patches/SPs.

  7. Content type hub should also propagate workflows

Currently, they only way to provision a workflow to site collections is to use the exported wsp-files from SharePoint designer. This however requires custom scripting to be enabled.

For on prem you may use a farm solution but this is not applicable to SPO.

If this was handled by the content type hub there would be no dependencies on the old feature framework.

  8. Multilogon accounts

Provide support for multilogon accounts. Currently i:0#.w|domain\jdoe logging in with windows authentication is not the same as i:60.t|adfs|jdoe@domain.com. I need to be able to connect those accounts to ease out hybridisation.

  9. Allow concurrent editing of excel workbooks in the client application

All co-authoring should be consistent. Co-authoring in Excel (the client) would have huge value. The web editor really does not work for power users.

  11. Targeted Stretched Farm Support

SharePoint supports a 1ms/1Gbps response time between SharePoint and SQL Server. Not all Service Applications require this level of latency. It would be great if the PG could release specific numbers for specific Service Applications (e.g. UPA must be 1ms, Word Automation Services 100ms, and so forth) or allow for variance for latency support, e.g. 1ms - 15ms fully supported.

  12. restore datasheet functionality

SharePoint 2013 degraded the datasheet view, purportedly to make it platform-independent; but this rendered it impossible to paste multiple rows of new data into a list as before.

  13. SharePoint Created Databases do not follow model DB settings in MS SQL

The issue I am attempting to resolve / highlight is that the SQL DBs created by SharePoint have various settings for Statistics creation and Autogrowth is set to 1MB.

The problem is that with an autogrowth of 1MB SQL is always growing the DBs therefore impacting SharePoint performance significantly due to hammering the disk channel. My request is that SharePoint by default would use the SQL Model DB to create it's DBs. By default the SQL Model DB has the settings that SharePoint implements today except for the seemingly random settings regarding Statistics that SharePoint creates for some reason. What…

  14. View Rights Assigned to an OAuth Token

Currently there's no supported way of being able to see what rights are assigned to an OAuth token. I.e. if you use /_layouts/appinv.aspx to look up a client ID, it will not show you the current and actual rights assigned to this token. If we install an App or manually register a new client id, we can assign it any kinds of rights. Later on we can modify these rights using appinv.aspx or PowerShell, but we'll never be able to see what rights it currently has. This is a security implication. Would be nice if we could make them visible.

  15. Add PowerShell Comlet for Configuration of People Picker

In SharePoint 2013 and 2010, there isn't PowerShell comlet for configuration of People Picker. The only available command is STSADM, which is documented here
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg602075.aspx

STSADM is deprecated in 2013 version and a PowerShell equivalent comlet is highly expected. Unfortunately this by far seems to be a forgotten area.

Therefore, a PowerShell comlet is strongly desired in SharePoint Server 2016. Ideally, the comlet can also be made available backwards in SharePoint Server 2013 and 2010.

  16. Have a second textbox to set the URL for Lists and Columns to avoid the %20 issue

Just like the TextBox for the URL when creating a new site, have one for the creation of Lists, Libraries and Columns that will become the Internal SharePoint names.

  17. Enable starting the user profile sync service without making the farm account local admin

This has been an issue since SP2010. Having the farm account permanently in the local admin group on the server running UPS generates security warnings (and rightly so!). Removing the account breaks UPS when it needs to be reprovisioned during a reboot or when using the OOTB farm backup.

  19. Implement Get-Help -Online in SharePoint Cmdlets

include the URLs for online cmdlets in SharePoint PowerShell cmdlets so one can call Get-Help -SP -Online like all the other cmdlets Microsoft ship.

  20. Workflows Cross Site LookUps

The Ability to look up information, create list items across Sites , subsite and Site Collections using Out the Box custom Workflows in SharePoint Designer.
Would be very handy and also include a new Infopath Form Creator built into the Workflow creation screen to similar to how we can now use visio designer in 2013 Designer.
