Show the access request email address on the Access Denied screen and/or a custom message
When users request access they might not get a response back from the site's owner. This is typically the case in large companies where people come and go often. Also site owners aren't on the hook to respond because they know users aren't aware the email was sent to them. The end result is a flood of tickets to the SP admin to provide access.
Also what would be nice is a option next to the access request email address button where you can leave a custom message at the site level so it shows on the access denied screen. Example " Please contact local IT to place you in security group domain\groupname" .
Another example: " Do not contact the Service Desk to request access, Contact John Doe as he owns this site and IT cannot provide access to his content"

Great idea! This would significantly reduce tickets to our helpdesk.

The custom message to provide contact instructions is a fantastic idea.
