Allow Library owner to turn off "link" in New menu on Document library in New Experience
The Link choice in the new menu for a Document library in the "New Experience" should be optional at the Library owner's discretion. There may indeed be times that you absolutely don't want other links to be included in the experience.

Yes, please add Link as an option to remove from the New menu. We need this ability to prevent users from creating these .url files, which then return as search items if in a library with other content that needs to be indexed for search. As a search item, the .url files dont' function well - browsers don't just take user to the link, but rather force a decision to download the item or open. We like to use the Link to Document content type instead, because the .aspx file it creates functions better as a search result. But not being able to remove the "Link" option results in having both Link to Document and Link, so we have trouble arriving at clarity for users about which to use.
We have Content Types defined for libraries including our own "<Business Name> Link" content type. The benefit of our "Business Name> Link" content type is we can specifically filter on it, whereas the default "Link" content type appears as of "Document" content type and is therefore indistinguishable from an actual document.
