send alerts to O365 distribution lists in SharePoint online
SharePoint Online should be able to send emails or alerts to O365 distribution groups in the same tenant.

Creating and managing alerts for all the users manually is cumbersome. Support for Distribution list would be wonderful.

I 100% agree. The Contact List Connect to Outlook feature is great because now people can update the Distribution lists themselves; however, we should be able to use the Contact list/Distribution list to send Alerts for items posted. This then fully takes us out of email. I am going to try to use a workaround by either sending the alert to myself with a rule that then forwards it to the Distribution group or create a Security group but a lot of workaround for features that should just be compatible.
