A mechanism for mapping drives to SharePoint that does not rely on Internet Explorer
We are frustrated by the fact that we are forced to use Internet Explorer as a way to invoke WebDAV to map network drives. The prerequisites of having to be logged into SharePoint via IE11 prior to mapping or accessing a mapped drive to SharePoint is clumsy and unreliable. It also requires too much dependence on the user to be mindful of these prerequisites. We would expect, in the days of Win10, that there is a more direct linkage between the OS and SharePoint so we don't have to rely on the increasingly problematic IE11 which is barely supported by Microsoft these days. We are requesting a non-IE, Win10 based solution for better access to SharePoint resources. We know Office products do well at browsing to SP sites, but third party 'Save-as" functions do not expose this, forcing us to map drives to overcome the limitation.
