  2. Backup and Restore of Production SharePoint Online Site Collections

I am doing some business continuity planning and have a couple of questions. I know that our SharePoint Online site collections are backed up every 12 hours and that backups are kept for 14 days. If we are planning to make a change to a site collection containing forms, SharePoint Designer workflows, and Site Columns and Content Types, is there a way to use this support service to request a special site collection backup before we start? Alternatively is there a way to do an local backup of the information before we start making changes? If it is not currently…

  3. Folder level restore/ versioning in SP

Would like to see folder level restore functionality in SP online. Currently a large gap between file level restore and using the MS site collection restore.
Seems a real drop off compared to the on prem SBS servers MS are encouraging us to replace with SP, and one of my big worries WRT cryptolocker infecting a whole site

  4. SharePoint Online Backup Retention Period increase

Increase backup retention period in Sharepoint Online from 14 days to a much longer period, ideally up to a year. Allow admins to request restore of single files or entire sites up to a year back.

  5. Create a copy-SPOsite

It would be nice to be able to copy a site to a new site

We have a range of test sites
At a time these gets to a point in time where they move from test site to production sites
But there is no possibility to rename/copy a site

Only posibility I have found is to create a template including contence - but it has a 50 mb limit

  6. The file’s name changes to a messy code when using decompression software to download files

If you download multiple files using decompression software, the file’s name will change to a messy code.
I really want this function can be improved.

  8. Recycle Bin - Ability to see full Name of deleted document and associated properties

It's impossible to see the full document name of most of the deleted items that I have in the Site Collection Recycle Bin. I thought I would be able to just expand the columns to get that information - but nothing is allowed.

There are lots of documents that start with the same first part of the name - and what will identify the document that needs to be restored is in the part that isn't displayed. There seems to be no way to view the full name.

There is no way to edit the view to give more details…

  9. Please enable granular restore capabilities! Item Level, Folder Level, etc

Please enable granular restore capabilities! Item Level, Folder Level, etc

Or, at the very least, please add the ability to restore a site collection to an alternate path. The restores right now are not acceptable for a service that houses production data. Overwriting an entire site collection for specific pieces of content is very destructive!

  12. Don't keep copies of files in version history if bytesize/hash hasn't changed

Currently every time you update sharepoint metadata for large video files in a document library, a new version is created and a copy of the large file is stored. All these versions add up fast to maximum storage limits.
Please keep a reference to the original file if nothing to bytesize or hash has changed and only the library's metadata was updated.

  13. Ability to monitor file restore / rollback jobs

As the time for a restore job can be lengthy, it would be helpful to have a way to monitor its progress and alert when completed. That way when the user calls for an update we can give a better estimate than "later". Big difference between 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, and 1 month. thank you.

  16. Feature Enhancement - Library Restore Feature

Now that we have the ability to restore a Library back to any point in time within the last 30 days it would be great to have the ability to select specific dates and times with which to restore. Currently if you're wanting to restore a specific bulk-change in a document library without affecting other folders that may have been edited with changes you want to keep, you have to take a backup up the data you know you want to keep, restore back to that point in time, and then restore the files you didn't want to make changes…

  17. Auto Archive Expired Groups

Like the idea that groups can be set to expire; however, the option needs to be extended to allow for backing up that data. Even it is is based off of Azure Backup. Data should never simply be "Deleted"

  18. restore fail

Using the SharePoint recycle bin locks up when trying to restore a file or folder that has already been replaced. When we delete a file and try to restore from the recycle bin if the file / folder is in the SharePoint site the restore hangs. I tried the same process using the Power shell commands and the command just hangs, I waited 24 hours and the recovery process never recovered anything?

  20. Stop trying to alter the usage database that lives in an Always-On Availability Group during patching

The issue with databases that live in an Always-On Availability Group is that they can’t be “Altered”. The patching script is trying to alter the database and set the log to simple. This causes an error. The work around is below but causes us to add extra steps to the patching process. Can you find a way to patch and stop alter the database log method?

    Fix:
So the solution for this particular problem scenario is to remove the Usage Logging database from the Availability Group while you are patching. You can do this safely, assuming that you have all…
