  1. Disable Create News Post from SharePoint Home Page

Add an option from SharePoint Admin's Settings to disable or hide the new "+ Create News Post" from the SharePoint Home. This is a great feature, but how about the people who are not using it or are not ready yet to use this feature at all?

There is an option to hide or disable the " + Create Site" link, but nothing for hiding or disabling the "+ Create News Post" link.

  2. Allow Site Admins to Disable "Return to Classic Sharepoint" Link

Displaying the "Return to Classic Sharepoint" and "Exit Classic Experience" links, with no option to disable these links, is a terrible idea. When a user switches from the new, modern interface to classic, it allows them to view links that they are not otherwise permitted to view, thereby overriding permissions. I don't want our users to have ability to switch between the two experiences.

  3. Make the Default sent from SharePoint Emails (like Quota limit and Access request) fully configurable in Central Admin

This would allow (without hacking at the default files) to set branding on the Emails in a HTML based format to make the emails more meaningful to users.

Also the Quota limit email should be more meaningful and a developed solution I have seen was to disable the timer job that actually runs with a custom version and then send out a mail with a more visual representation of the Storage being used ( Simple bar showing total amount of storage allocated to the site with the amount used and how much was in the recycle bin.)

    Also I would…

  4. IRM read permission does not allow to change a filter or a pivot, nor to run a macro

The RMS permissions on a document for a user depend on the permission a user has for that library or document in sharepoint. The mapping from the sharepoint permissions to the RMS permissions are fixed and cannot be configured at this moment. This causes problems for users having sharepoint read access, when opening an excel workbook because they cannot change filters, make or change pivots, running macros. This makes the reading process of RMS protected workbooks unusable.

  5. Add ability to route documents into Document Sets based on metadata

As the title said, I would like to see the capability to create content organizer rules that can route documents into specific document sets based on metadata on the document and on the document set.

  6. Enable Guest Links

Guest Links in SharePoint Server 2016 are technically possible to get working, and they do work, however it would be great if there was official support for them. These links would provide the same functionality as in SharePoint Online -- read-only and editing access for anyone who has the link. This is not a request to enable External User Sharing, as that requires further integration with Azure ACS.

  7. Email Enabled Document Library / List

If you enable this option on a document library / list within Sharepoint Online (Office 365) it generates a customisable email address.

When you send an email to this email address Sharepoint processes that email and creates a new item in that document library / list with the contents of the email:

    - Sender email address
    - Subject
    - Date / time
    - Content
    - Attachments

This would allow you to use Sharepoint Online as a ticketing system or to log certain emails for any reason.

A little less complicated and UPS configuration will definitely help and reduce issues that occur during and after configuration.

  10. Provide support for SSL and IP Address bindings in IIS

Provide full support for IIS bindings - i.e. include SSL and IP Address + SNI options. It is slightly ridiculous that these settings must be managed outside of SharePoint and influence the logic of web application creation. Bring web app creation up to date with the versions of IIS SharePoint is running on.

  11. Implement Redis caching for SharePoint

With the deprecation of AppFabric, SharePoint requires a robust caching mechanism for session state, logon tokens, and more in order to avoid requiring persistent connections on load balancers, in addition to improving performance. Another plus would be to use Redis cache clusters that were not part of any SharePoint farm. That is, allow multiple farms to leverage to leverage a single Redis cache server. This may also allow a customer to run non-Windows servers for Redis.

  14. Allow Admin Specification of Properties to Synchronize from Azure AD to SPO Profile

Enable the same ability that on premise SharePoint environments have to specify what properties are synched to the SPO profile from Azure AD.
A bonus here would be the ability to add rules for synching properties. ex, If profile property x=? then synch property otherwise skip it.

  15. Discussion Board Threaded View

Most popular comment and discussion boards in the world have threaded views for clarity. Please add it back to sharepoint, as it's not usable otherwise. Thanks

  18. Adjust the SharePoint Srvr licensing model (& its requirements) to be compatible with making available an ISV product on SaaS business model

The current licensing model isn't friendly at all if you're thinking on making your SharePoint product available as a Cloud SaaS.

To go Cloud, this must needed change must occur so that the SharePoint (and its ecosystem required products) licensing model to fit well with SaaS business models without an obscene entry cost in licensing that crushes your initial investment as an ISV.

We have this product that we developed, and it requires SharePoint Server.

We’ve been considering for some time now the possibility of making our product also available as a SaaS.

However, as SharePoint Server is a requirement…

  19. add feature to use filters and do search in the recycle bin

When recycle bin get large, it is difficult to find item. Having the ability to use filters or doing a search in the recycle bin would facilitate our task.

  20. Disable unlicensed users from accessing SharePoint Online in general.

Currently, users can access Site collections no matter if an admin has assigned a SPO license to them or not. The access is only regulated via permissions within Site collections.

For our migration of 800 Teamsites from SP2013 to SPO, removing all permissions as the Microsoft support told us, is no feasible solution, not even a workaround.

Users should not be able to access SharePoint Online, if they don't have a SPO license.
