  1. Undo Permission Change

It would be great to have an undo permission settings in SP. Currently users can quickly rectify the mistakes of accidental deletion of content. However there is nothing that helps to rectify any changes made to the permission model i.e. accidentally re inherit permissions from parent, severing all unique changes made.

  2. Expand SPO Powershell Capability

Current PowerShell cmdlets available to administer SharePoint Online don't have enough functionality at or below the Site Collection level.

I would like to see more of the on-prem cmdlet functionality migrated to SPO to be able to gather configuration data, site hierarchy, site / document library permissions, and other such information to quickly build documentation and reports.

Having to learn and use CSOM seems like a step backwards.

  4. Enable CMIS in Sharepoint Online

Since OneDrive for Business on the Macintosh does not sync Sharepoint Libraries or Team Sites, I was excited to find an open source sync client called CmisSync. I installed it on my Mac, only to find it will sync with Sharepoint on premise, but not Sharepoint online. Apparently Microsoft failed to enable CMIS in Sharepoint Online. This is a request to review and reconsider this feature. Alternatively, please fix the new OneDrive (DF) client so that I can sync said libraries.

  5. Remove extraneous characters from term store data export to excel

When SharePoint data is exported to Excel, managed metadata columns show up with extra characters, such as 35;#Metals instead of just Metals. Would be better if only the term name got transferred.

  7. Comments on list item in SharePoint Online

Currently, we can enable and disable commenting functionality on list items at the tenant level, not for a specific list or site scope.

So I think it would be great to have an option at list settings to enable or disable comments for a specific list.

Also, at the site level, we should have the same option at site settings to control the commenting functionality for all lists for a specific site, instead of the tenant level.

I have received many questions related to this request from my customers and technical communities. so I have decided to raise this idea…

  8. PowerShell "Site owners and members, and people with Edit permissions can share files and folders, but only site owners can share the site"

The ability to set the SharePoint Online site sharing permissions setting to "Site owners and members, and people with Edit permissions can share files and folders, but only site owners can share the site" using PowerShell, this way it can be set for a large number of sites via scripting. Currently Microsoft tells me this is not possible via PowerShell and can only be done manually per site.

  9. No way to check changes made by outsource vendors to various services in the Admin Centre due to lack of audit log function

No way to check changes made by outsource vendors to various services in the Admin Centre due to lack of audit log function

    ■Description(内容):
    Office 365 の外部委託をする際にベンダーに管理者権限を付与しようと考えています。

When outsourcing site creation in Office 365, we are considering giving the vendor administrative privileges. The trustee company will have the upper-most administrative role in SharePoint Online assigned to them. When they make changes within the “Settings” in the SharePoint admin center, since there is no activity to pull an audit log, there is no…

  10. A feature to set default values for version management for the entire tenant

    *English follows Japanese
    ■Title(件名):
    テナント全体でバージョン管理の既定値を設定する機能の拡充
A feature to set default values for version management for the entire tenant

    ■Description(内容):
    SharePoint Online、及び OneDrive for Business におけるバージョン管理が現在はドキュメント ライブラリ毎に設定する必要がある。 そのためサイト、ドキュメント ライブラリ毎に設定が必要となる。 さらなる作業効率化のため、テナントで一括でバージョン管理の初期値を設定できる機能の拡充を希望します。
Currently version management for SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business needs to be set separately in the document library. As a result settings are required for every site and document library. We hope the feature will be improved to set default values for version management using the tenant so as to improve work efficiency.

  11. OneDrive Shareable Links Password protection enforcement for admins

At present as an admin, you can enforce features like expiry date, etc when sharing links via OneDrive. I'd like the option to enforce the password option for our users

  12. Change banner message when site is under the Closed policy and Read-Only

While using the Site Closure policy to set the site collections to Read-Only the banner message is not correct.

While the Modern pages display the message: "SharePoint sites are read-only right now while we do some maintenance. We apologize for the inconvenience." the Classic pages show "This site is read only at the site collection administrator's request."

The later is more reflective of what we're trying to achieve.

The procedure I'm referring to is: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/use-policies-for-site-closure-and-deletion-a8280d82-27fd-48c5-9adf-8a5431208ba5

  14. SharePoint Online - Site Collection Creation Date (PowerShell)

Many times we find out its important to us (IT) and our companies to know when a Site Collection was created and by using what account. the site owner can be changed, so its not useful for auditing

  15. Revert default date format to "Standard" from "Friendly"

When I want to know the time and date that something was Created or Modified I require a bit of standardized precision.
    e.g. [5/31/2017 7:33 PM] (actually, I'd prefer the ISO standard of [2017-05-31 19:33] but that's another discussion).
Instead, the "Friendly" format gives you useless approximations like "a few minutes ago", or "29 minutes ago", or "May 5".
This is what people are used to and what I suspect is the majority use case.
Why would we want to impose a non-standard format, "Friendly" or otherwise. The "Friendly" format is the unusual non-standard format and as such deserves to…

  16. Sharepoint Child Items Permission flag

In UI we have option to grant permission to child items along with the folder permission using the checkbox "Share everything in this folder, even items with unique permission". However there is no api available for sharing permission for child items via api/ CSOM.

It would be better to have this feature.

  17. Enable Host Named Site Collections in O365 SharePoint online

In SharePoint online it would be very helpful to also have host named site collections. We use this to logicall sign and separate our URL's like for departments or business units.
    E.g. https://it.mycompany.sharepoint.com and https://hr.mycompany.sharepoint.com

  18. Allow CSP admin (delegated administrator) to manage SharePoint site collections

Being MIcrosoft's Cloud Solution Provider (CSP), I have to manage users, groups and permissions of Site Collections in my customer’s tenant using PowerShell/CSOM as CSP administrator (delegated administrator).

The requirement is, I cannot use credentials of global admin and Site Collection admin to perform above mentioned tasks. The only credentials I have are of CSP Admin (delegated admin).

Although, there is an option to add support partner "Add Support Partner" (Foreign principal for "Company" in Role "TenantAdmins" (Global Microsoft Support Tenant Contract)) in SharePoitn Online admin portal . But there is no API or PowerShell commands to add support partner…

  20. Roll out ALL changes to the Canary tenant before global roll out

It is very helpful that Microsoft makes a 'Canary Tenant' available to test existing solutions with upcoming changes to the platform. This helps us to catch potential breaking changes early.

However, it turns out that only new functionality is rolled out to the Canary Tenant, not other changes. For example this caused major problems with our customers when Code Based sand-boxed solutions were discontinued without adequate warning (other than a general announcement a couple of years earlier without a specific date).

Please roll out ALL non-emergency changes to the Canary Tenant before rolling them out globally.
