  1. SharePoint Search Results does not display OneNote Page

    We’ve stored a lot of our team OneNote Notebooks on Modern Communication SharePoint site. The issue what we’re experiencing with SharePoint Search UX is that while searching for the content present within any OneNote from SharePoint, only the section name of OneNote gets displayed within the SharePoint Search results, instead of the actual OneNote page where the content resides. Thus, to get to the actual content, user needs to perform multiple searches:
    1. Search for content via SharePoint search page
    2. As the relevant information on content could be present across multiple Notebooks, lots of section names appear in search…

  2. Search management

    We think there is a pronounced need to have a way to monitor (also manage) the load on the search crawler or the index. We would like to have:

    • a monitorable queue of objects being processed by the search crawl. An admin could manage the search crawl queue thus making sure priority sites, based on business need, are indexed first, regardless of data volume contained in them.

    OR

    • a way to monitor the health of the search index. Like index statistics in SQL, we need a way to track (potentially also optimize) the load on and status of the site…

  3. Please add the ability to search online for the middle or end part of a filename

    For a document with the filename "0267F243469.pdf"

    Allow searching to find the document with:
    filename:F243469.pdf
    filename:
    F243469
    filename:F2434

    Many other online solutions support the ability to search the middle or end part of a filename (not just the beginning or an isolated word) ie: Box, Dropbox, ownCloud, Datto Drive etc. Windows Explorer works fine, just not the online web search.

  4. Audio Search Result Preview

    Audio (mp3) files currently do not preview OR link to the audio file itself (they link to the file details page) unlike video (mp4) files in search results. This causes a poor user experience when searching for audio.

  5. Search autosuggest and results page should display the documents' Title by default

    The search autosuggest should display the documents' Title, if available. Currently, the (file) Name is displayed, which is not intuitive or legible. Displaying the document Title first is the normal pattern of all search engines.

  6. Using the "global" search box should perform a People Search regardless of current context

    The search within SharePoint should perform people searches from the organization level at all times. Users should not have to go to the search results page and traverse up to the Organization level. The autosuggest on the site search used to display people results when we first vetted SharePoint as an Intranet solution--now it doesn't.

  7. Site collection search when granting access permissions to users

    *English follows Japanese

    ■Title(件名):
    サイト コレクションでユーザーにアクセス権限を付与する際の検索について
    Site collection search when granting access permissions to users

    ■Description(内容):
    SharePoint Online のサイト コレクションにてユーザーにアクセス権限を付与する際の検索について、現状では前方一致のみで検索が行われるが、SharePoint 2010 などのように前方一致以外の検索も有効にして欲しい。
    Currently when searching SharePoint Online’s Site Collection while granting access permissions to users, the search is only done for matching prefixes. Please improve the search function so that it works like SharePoint 2010 where other search methods will be valid as well, not just prefix searching.

  8. SharePoint Search Results - Allow "Move" and "Copy" from search results

    When searching for a document/folder, if you find it, you cannot Move/Copy it. You have to manually navigate to the exact document library path location to use the “Move/Copy” features.
    Please help improve this.

  9. Regarding the search results sort order for lists in Sharepoint app

    *English follows Japanese

    ■Title(件名):
    SharePoint アプリでのリストの検索結果の並び順について
    Regarding the search results sort order for lists in Sharepoint app

    ■Description(内容):
    リストで検索した場合、PC やモバイル端末のブラウザーでは、[リストの設定] から既定のビューの編集画面で [並べ替え] で指定した並び順にもとづいて検索結果が表示される。
    しかしながら、SharePoint アプリの場合、検索結果に該当するアイテムが、初期の設定である ID 順で表示される動作となる。
    この点について、PC などと表示順が異なるとアイテムの確認に手間がかかるため、PC などの動作と同様に、指定した並び順にもとづいて検索結果を表示させることができるようにしてほしい。
    When searching using a list, the search results are shown accordingly to what has been set in the Sort option in the List Settings for browsers on the PC and mobile devices.
    However for the Sharepoint app, search results are shown according to the default setting, which is ID.
    This ends up in using up time to check what results have been returned as the order is different from what…

  10. Provide an ability to default the search to "Hub" level on all associated site.

    Currently in SPOnline, the search on the hub site works for both hub and its associated site. But inside an associated site, it is restricted only for that site. We need an ability to scope the search in all the associated site to its "hub" level. We found a way to elevate the search scope on all the site to tenant level. But for a client with global presence, not all intranet content to be shared globally. Some content are region specific. So they are looking for these options,
    1. Elevate the associated site default search to its "Hub" level …

  11. I want to exclude a specific user from the search target in "user search" of SharePoint Online

    I would like to create a new account for new hires to join, but I would like to prohibit searching for pre-joining users in order to manage confidential information.

  12. Display the name of the site you are searching within

    When searching within a site sometimes people get confused by the verbiage "Search this site" and make the improper assumption that it is searching against everything. A simple and subtle change that could reduce confusion is if you include the name of the site in the search box. For example, "Search within the <Site Name> site".

  13. Change or add new automatically created search managed properties to have the same type as site columns

    Automatically created managed properties in SharePoint Online (and on-prem) are created from their corresponding site columns always as text (details at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/technical-reference/automatically-created-managed-properties-in-sharepoint). Basically, these managed properties are being created as textual representations of the values of their corresponding site columns. The problem with these approach is that we can only make free search queries with these managed properties even if the corresponding site column is of type Date or Decimal for example. With this approach, more intelligent queries according to the site column data type as range queries cannot be performed. Here are some examples of queries cannot be…

  14. OneDrive Search should ONLY include OneDrive results by default

    PLEASE limit OneDrive Search results to only show OneDrive content when searching from OneDrive. There can be an option to expand search results further, but we want the default results to be the person's OneDrive that they are searching from.

  15. Support for search via synonyms for a particular term in Modern Search.

    For eg If i have managed metadata column called Keywords, which has a term called Research, which has following synonyms study,investigate,examination.

    Now when i search Keywords:Research everything works fine.
    But modern search should also support this Keywords:Study

  16. connect the modern search box on the page to pnp webpart search page

    we have a requirement to use search refiners the way it used to work in classic search. pnp modern search webpart provides that option. There should be a way to link the search box on the top of the modern site to link to the pnp webpart page. Right now the way modern search box works, it does not allow to link the search or redirect search to pnp webpart page

  17. Filtering Flaw

    A filtering flaw was recently discovered within SharePoint when using the ‘filter button’ on the right hand side while working within a specific view. If this filter is engaged and the ‘see all’ link is selected, the view ID disappears from the link. If this link is then sent to or shared with another user, they won’t be directed to the correct view.

    Can you release an update to SharePoint Online to resolve this flaw?

  18. SharePoint Online search results page display feature

    *English follows Japanese

    ■Title(件名):
    SharePoint Online 検索結果のページの表示について
    SharePoint Online search results page display feature

    ■Description(内容):
    SharePoint Online サイト内の検索ボックスより、検索結果を表示すると、下部のページの選択が 1 ページは 2 ページ目までの選択しかできず、それより先のページに遷移するまで手順を踏まないといけない。検索結果 1 ページ 目より最終ページや、任意のページまですぐ遷移できるよう機能を変更して欲しい。
    When displaying search results in SharePoint Online site search box, only the first 2 pages can be chosen, and if we want to view any other pages there are more steps that must be taken. Please change the search feature so that search results from the first to the last page are displayed, and a way to navigate to a desired page number.

  19. "Name" Column visible in Library settings

    Currently there is no way to have the "Name" column visible in library settings. It would be nice if we can do changes and add the "Name" column in sharepoint library settings to have easy access.

  20. search scheme api

    I have some apps that reqire updates to the search scheme at either the tenant or site-collection level. When deploying these apps the updates to the search scheme must be done manually in an archaic UI.

    Please provide an API so i can update the tenant or site-collection search schema programatically.
